If only devs stopped using XInput for controllers that is included with DirectX and something else, like SDL2's Input handling or Steam Input. By default anything that isn't part of Microsoft's product it will use the old DirectInput and since majority of devs use XInput, any controller that isn't Xbox ones will not work.
@KayX2913 жыл бұрын
@Иосиф Виссарионович Сталин For starters, SDL2 contains basic stuff for making a software that can be expanded further. SDL2's input handling from what i gather handles the keyboard, mouse, joystick etc. But the real deal here is that when it comes to gamepads it supports any controller while following the Xbox's button layout. If you run a game that uses SDL2 with Dualshock 4 plugged in, it will immediately work. Whereas with a game that uses XInput, it'll absolutely refuse to work at all. If a specific gamepad does not work in SDL2, you can actually configure it on your own and use its profile (or even better, send the profile to the SDL2 devs themselves so in next release it'll be immediately ready)

It isn't 0 vibration (just like if you use a dualshock 3 or 4), the controller will vibrate but pc games don't support the newer, more precise vibrations that the dualsense is capable of, or not yet at least. Now that we are getting multiple versions of each console in a single generation (Xbox had 3 and PS had 2 last generation), that price gap between consoles and PC has dropped considerably. I'm dropping xbox this gen for a pc since it has access to those games. I'm planning my new game room now and am curious to know your setup. I'm a couch gamer that will be playing most games on my TV but will still jump to the pc for some games, random editing and miscellaneous other things. Any feedback you could provide would be helpful. And, as always, thanks for your honest opinions on all things gaming.

The best purchase I have ever made for my setup, was this year. The price gap between PC and console hasn't gotten smaller... it's reversed. You used to be able to build a PC with better specs than a console for the same price as the console itself, but now you can't. PS5 has 2080ti graphics(comparably) and tech that hasn't yet released on PC. It takes more than a grand to build something with similar specs as the PS5. For the first time in history consoles are getting things before PC, it's kinda crazy.

@@XiaolinDraconis The gap is less than it used to be when one console lasted 8 years. Now the expectation is to buy at least 2 consoles for each brand in that same time frame to stay up to date. Meaning, a PS5 and a PS5 Pro and an XBox Series X and an XBox Series X Pro (or whatever they call it). Yes, there's value in trading/selling the consoles but still an upcharge (and hastle). This assumes both consoles only have one upgraded version. Last generation, one console brand had 2 upgrades. This doesn't account for the memory. These consoles will require $200-$250 per TB of SSD storage after you download about 8 games and save some clips or whatever. If I could play PS exclusives on PC (without waiting 3 years), I'd drop Playstation, too. I think, over the next 7-8 years (typical console generation) , both console brands with upgrades and memory will be damn close to the cost of a similarly performing PC but without all the customization, PC games, household utility and storage capacity.

@@XiaolinDraconis the ps5 is nowhere near a 2080ti, it is comparable to a 6600 AMD when considering raw computing power. It manages to get more performance thanks to upscaling and optimization but since this techniques are also available on pc thanks to DLSS and FSR the difference is still big.

So the controller doesn't even vibrate on PC unless its a steam game?

Unfortunately it uses a new OS to the DS4 controller so DS4 supported games don't support the dual sense controller.

I'm surprised you don't like the xbox one pad for 2d stuff, its what I use - specifically because I think it feels great, currently playing through the messenger with it. I also use it for fighting games (Dragonball FighterZ / Tekken 7 / Soul Calibur 6 / MK11) and find it fantastic for clean inputs, where they really matter. Its all very subjective - but im just a lil surprised :)

People usually prefer the d-pad position on Dualshock controllers so I am not surprised. It is basically in the same position since SNES controller.
@Houldey3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, fair play - i'm not knocking it tbh, used playstation pads myself from the big gray box onwards, but I just took a chance on an xbox one pad to use on my PC and was surprised how good the d-pad felt. I did kinda stop using controllers at all for about 8 or so years when I was purely KB&M for stuff, so maybe I lost some muscle memory preference lol.

Unfortunately, it's likely that the defining features of the DualSense won't receive any official support on Windows from Sony. I don't see any developer adding support for the additive triggers and haptics for any version of a game that isn't on Sony's own platform.

@CandarianGaming9 ай бұрын
Xbox controllers have better "Native" support if you just want to plug in and play. But the Dualsense is a much more versatile controller for PC specifically. Programs such as steam input, reWASD allow you to have extra bindings on the touchpad, you can put mouse input on the gyro/motion sensors for mouse accuracy on non-aim assist shooters and reWASD allows you to turn the trigger motors into trigger stops for instant clicks. Depends on what you're after but the Dualsense can handle mouse and keyboard centric games on top of everything else.

dual sense ps5 is working on my pc for everything recognized by windows as just a wireless controller. all maping was correct from the start and worked on rocket league as soon as i plugged it in. no changes needed. about to try forza bbut as windows 10 recognizes it as a basic controller and all buttons are working. i used the type c cable to connect to my pc bc i dont have bluetooth and wasnt going to try a ps5 dual sense dongle yet... if at the time im wrinting this someone knows a bluetooth dongle achieving a ceonnection with the dual sense controller on pc please comment and let me know...
