I love how you just look at other DJs and their techniques without hating on anyone for being popular. Just pointing out what they're doing and how they're doing it without judgment is such a breath of fresh air in the often toxic online world. I don't even like DV&LM but I'd rather see what I can learn from them than hear yet another bitter DJ ranting about how things used to be better (they weren't. I was there.).

It does kinda feel like im re-learning "the craft" again though. This DOES have a slight vinyl feel to me on this controller, which is nice. I'm use to 2 Techs, needles, a mixer, and headphones. Nothing digital, so this is a new world for me. Your videos are really helping this old dj fart, learn new tricks. lol! I was a Happy Hardcore DJ for 14 years on the East Coast (USA), played 100's of events.Even sponsored by Kikwear Clothing. I start back when social media, besides Myspace, didn't exist yet. It was all Snap Cameras, Paper flyers, and Hotline Numbers to find all the fun raves. Nothing was mainstream yet. Your vinyl collection was SPECIAL and great tracks were actually Rare-to-find. Mine we're so damn expensive, because I ordered my tunes from the UK. Hope you had the chance to experience that in your youth DJ Carlo, it was a blast. Have a wonderful weekend! You are getting more creative with the videos, nice work! I liked the mixing in key examples part, hilarious. You did an excellent job in breaking down the Duo's mixing style. I have to say though, they are really milking that filter knob for all it's worth! @@djcarlo True. Its because you can't really define it, you mostly feeling it while reading the crowd. But when organizing the tracks i like to label them like this: POWER (when you have a track that is very powerful that pushes the crowd to the edge and you feel the bass pumps like a big washing machine that keeps spinnin very loud.), EMOTIONAL (when you to break that intense energy and give the crowd air but make them emotional. The tracks have to have an emotional melody.) Also there are tracks for the beginning and end of the set that gives that hello or goodbye vibe. Its very hard for me to explain this because that's i personally experience music. Hope you feel what im saying 🙂

a lot of these guys have duos cause of the music production side so they produce as a duo so they just dj together and its becoming even more prominent now a days. W&W, Da Tweekaz, Sub Zero Project, Daft Punk, Knife Party, Loud Luxury, Slander, Showtek. Those are all duos and that's just a small list to show how prominent it has become.

Mixing in key is definitely boring. It’s fine for a few tracks in a set, but keeping your set entirely in key is like eating French fries with a side of French fries and a dipping sauce made out of potatoes. Listen to any vinyl DJ worth their salt and you’ll hear how NOT mixing in key can be even more enjoyable. There’s no mixing in key with records.

@@djcarlo yeah of course! As zero has commented, drop mixing, doubles and slicing (idk if that’s the same thing as chopping) are techniques that are very prominent within the genre, I’m also interested in knowing where to place hot cues, how to use low/high pass filtering to help ease into another track, and how to manage energy throughout sets (going from high energy drops to slower, calmer breakdowns) Sorry if these are quite vague, I’m a producer who’s trying to improve my beginner DJ skills within the realm of bass music. DJs like Stoned level, Excision, Kompany, Calcium, and Soltan are my inspirations so maybe watching clips of their sets might give you an idea of what I’m thinking of.
