I've played with the Mountune exhaust!
I have now had some time to get properly acquainted with the Mountune cat back exhaust V3 for my MK3 Ford Focus RS and so I am back to give you a rundown of my views, thoughts and feelings as well as some cool sound bites showcasing the V3 exhaust from Mountune!
Hopefully you will get a good idea of the sounds it makes and the performance gains it provides although I am aware that it doesn't always come across fully on camera vs real life!
I cover many things including plenty of chat about how the exhaust sounds in different scenarios compared to stock as well as discussing the other positives gained by installing the Mountune exhaust (or possibly indeed any aftermarket exhaust option available from many brands!)
I then talk about what I feel are the drawbacks or negatives of the Mountune V3 exhaust including a perceived lack of adjust-ability, despite adjustability being sold as a feature on the Mountune website - and also the angle that the exhaust valve is mounted at - I have to be honest so that you really know what's what!
I splice in some sounds, trying to accurately capture the array of different sounds that the exhaust can make in various settings including normal mode, track mode, launch control, windows up/down and more!
There are multiple reasons for getting the Mountune V3 Focus RS exhaust including aesthetics with the larger and shinier exhaust tips with laser etched Mountune logo, for a sound upgrade having larger bore pipe work and a specially designed back box design, the sound is tuned for the character of the RS as well as for increased volume and as far as performance goes, it is lighter than stock and removes restriction found in the standard RS exhaust system in terms of the larger bore tubing and the removal of the flat 'pancake' section that exists in the stock setup - I really do think that pickup feels faster and more eager!
I also retain the exhaust valve delete from my standard MK3 Ford Focus RS exhaust - valve delete keeps the valve open permanently so the exhaust will be on full loudness always and also will stop the error code caused by the valve sticking ever showing!
I really do believe the Mountune V3 exhaust is one of the best around!
