He was unplayable, a cheat code, freak of nature, slippery as an eel, a jolt of electricity, his IQ, his positioning which I think is underrated, the 1-2 passes that were had to intercept, he could make a bad passer seem like a good assist provider, his fearlessness to take on anybody, he was the one running up to defenders and you'd see defenders shaking at their knees when they saw him coming. Boy! was he awesome.

To me 2019 was the most complete version of Messi.He could score,create,assist, playmake n provide creativity deep from the midfield like a 6,his dribbling was almost 19 yr old Messi mode.He literally dragged n carried that weak dysfunctional barca team but it wasn't just enough,the team let him down.From that year is when Messi transitioned into the leader that he is today.

Messi in his prime made video game numbers seem almost pedestrian. Where 35+ league goals could somehow seem like he had an off year. Football didn't feel real for a couple of seasons. Probably the most ludicrous thing about the sheer numbers he put up was that it made the unbelievable numbers that CR7 put up seem believeable somehow. 50 league goals in 37 games by Messi almost made you forget that before him and CR7 came along, scoring 38 goals in a single la liga season was the absolute peak of goalscoring prowess in Spain. In a few short years, scoring more than a goal a game became not just possible, but expected. We will never see anything like it again. I can quite safely say that for sure.

It's good to remind all those who are jumping on the bandwagon after he won the world cup and joined MLS why he is the GOAT. There have been only two Messis that were just unbelievable to watch and just jaw-dropping: 2008-2012 and the 2014-2015 season. and from those 2, the 2008-2012 Messi had Guardiola to heighten his talent. Go look at that Messi, his movements, first touches, feints, dribbling, association, speed, reflexes, his low-centre gravity was at its peak, he would pressure like he was a Klopp player, he would go 100% all in and had unheard of football maturity for his age. Aside from his form and talent he had BALLS. And not just against Cadiz, Las Palmas, Eibar, Granada type teams, he was a monster against Bayern, Manchester Utd, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and other huge teams. But he did have a lot of tactical and nutritional based that ignited all that talent from Guardiola and Vilanova. So it was a combination. He really was La Pulga Biónica, "The Atomic Flea"

I’m pretty sure Messi had like 112 goal contribution in 2012 which is insane considering some teams didn’t even get that many goals in 2012. It’s so crazy that people don’t think Messi is literally the best forward of all time since he has done everything better than anyone else has at one point. I mean I don’t even see Mbappe or Haaland getting to 65 goals in a season. The successors to the last era are just a fake copy. Even though they don’t have the flair anymore, and are based on being fast, strong and only scoring they probably won’t get close.
