"It got him 6 rings" .... Uh not exactly: Johnny Arnett, thank you for this channel man . Great work - loved your bill Russell video. Having grown up around Chicago during the 80s and 90s, unfortunately I noticed you missed a few things in this pippen video: One of the Bulls authors who is a Basketball Hall of Fame member told me: "Pippen is DJ - Dennis Johnson. Great defender, good teammate, distributor..... great athlete. Not a closer". If they traded Kemp for Pippen or they got McGrady for Pippen, Jordan would have still scored like 45 in game 6 vs. Utah in 1998.... Yes pippen was a great defender. Yes he was a Dr J like athlete on offense - But no he was not a closer - and jordan could have won with other guys (Kawhi .... Ewing..... Karl Malone...... etc) PIppen showed he could not win without MJ (94? Nope. 95? The Bulls were barely .500 and barely in the playoffs when Jordan came back from baseball)..... 99? In Houston or Portland? No. Remember the HOuston team had Olajuwan, Barkley and Pippen. Johnny Arnett who made this video ignored some important points that I recognized bc I lived through the 90s: 1) Yes, Pippen choked 1990 in game 7 *(migraine). 2) Pippen was nowhere in 1993 when the Bulls needed it either in game 5 of the Finals which the Bulls lost at home. And in game 6 - 4th Q.... MJ scored every point except Paxson's 3. Interesting how Arnett left out the 1.8 seconds where Scottie quit on the Bulls in 1994. 3) IN 1998, Pippen had 2 FTs to win the game vs. Indy in game 4. If the bulls won, they go up 3-1. But Pippen misses both FTs.. .. That's where Arnett was wrong in comparing Pippen to Kawhi: Kawhi is a great FT shooter. Kawhi has proven he IS a closer. Pippen was a career 70.4 % FT shooter. That's worse than Lebron (74).... that's pretty bad. Kawhi is at about 85% and last year with the Raptors it was around 89%. That's very very good - almost Larry Bird or Reggie Miller good. THose are important differences when you're talking NBA Players. That's worth millions of dollars right there.

@@smile0153 Yup, one of "those". Pippin is a TOP 50 at best. I'm willing to go down this road just once-because you asked. Pippin was a great player/hall of famer, just not a Top Tier Alpha, Iconic or Stats King player. He emerged and blossomed on the shoulders of Jordan, nothing wrong with that. But the real Top Dogs belong to a special group and there are plenty. The very best include Wilt, Russel, Baylor, Robinson, West, Julius, Malone, Walton, Admiral, Bird, Magic, Isaiah, Kareem, Hakeem, Ewing, Mullen, Payton, Malone, Barkley, Jordan, Iverson, Reggie, Dominique, Shack, Kobi, Duncan, Pierce, Garnett, Carter, Chris Paul, Nash, Rose, Wade, Dirk, LeBron, Leonard, Greek, Irving, Embed, KD, Curry, Joker, A Davis, Westbrook, Damien, Luka, Zion. I also have Pistol, Rodman and David Thompson in this group. This is most of the TOP 50 ALL TIme. You might have an argument with a couple of my sentimental favorites, but overall, Pippin is NOT better than ANY of them and most real fans would agree, Scottie Pippin on par with these extraordinary NBA greats: Walt Fraser, Willis Reed, Elvin Hayes, Rick Berry, Bobby Jones, Spenser Haywood, Worthy, Kidd, Tony Parker, McHale, Mourning, Sampson, Drexler, Stockton, Kemp, Chief, Bosh, McGrady, Ming, Mello, Butler, Wall, Draymond, Kimba, Clay, Tim Hardaway, Dennis Johnson, Mitch Richmond, Mutombo, Weber, Dwight, …This group is “Second 50” and there are some greats on this list. Pippin is NOT better than ALL of these second 50 guys-he’s in there somewhere. Since Pippin is in the second group, that makes him a top 100 all time. I know that will piss you off so go ahead and pick apart the top list. He might edge out a few and if he does, he's a top 45-50 ALL TIME-nothing to be ashamed of. I'm sure I've forgotten a bunch of names, just rattled these off. And Hardin sucks, he’s bad for the game. Another story.

Pippen is arguably the most complete player ever. He could defend all 5 positions and was super-versatile as a point-forward. Ball handling, passing, post-ups, transition player, shooter. Absolutely no weakness. He was so good that he could give his team anything it needed at any given time, rebounds, blocks, steals, stopping opposing scorers, assists, points. Whatever the team needed to win. And what an athlete, beautiful to watch. I rate him higher than Kobe. Way better defender and team leader.

Pip is easily in the top 3 point forwards of all time. The confusion lies in most people don't understand the term point forward and just put Pippen in the small forward category. With Pippen, you don't need a point guard. And you can't just look at his offensive numbers. His defense was at another level. He was a better defender than Jordan but never got the defensive player of the year award. Pippen would gamble a little more on defense than MJ; he had MJ and Grant/Rodman and Harper there backing him up. Pippen wasn't about stat stuffing; he was about winning, plain and simple. Whatever it took to win, he did.

He could do it all, but when he was in his bag, facilitating and scoring his 20-25 points and absolutely locking dudes down on dee, alongside MJ, and Rodman pulling down 19 rebounds a night - the Bulls were just unstoppable when they were firing on all cylinders. If he played in today's game, he'd be a diamond rated player that everyone would want to play with because of the multitude of things he could do on the court. There are two very obvious and important differences: Kawhi can't be a lead a team if his life depends on it (he might have been the best player on the Raptors, but not the leader), while Pippen did step up after MJ retired the first time. Pippen was essentially a Point Forward and thus the one who pretty much ran the offense so that MJ could highlight his strengths as he could focus on them, whereas Kawhi's Clippers ended their season with arguably the biggest choke in basketball history when they tried to turn Kawhi into LeBron.

Leading the Bulls in so many categories is mind-boggling, but to perform those feats ALONGSIDE MJ is no excuse, we as a society are BLIND to the Truth. Lebron is BY FAR in the vein of Pip's game and to compare him to Jordan is UNFAIR. Pip may not be KNOWN as one of the Greatest here in America, but I'm sure somewhere, where TRUTH is important, his legacy will be understood completely. One of the greatest B-Ball Players of all time as a member of the NBA (Nothing But Aliens), and possibly the greatest power forward of all time. I have always valued his game over Jordan's because of its complexity and HEART. Awesome video. You answered many questions I had about Scotty and I've been a Bulls fan all of my adult life. I never got to meet Scotty or Jordan, but I did meet Kerr, Rodman & Jason Williams. In 2014, I met Steve Kerr after he spoke to an NCAA Sweet 16 crowd of 800 and I had been his camera Op. I told him I had a two minute story about Jason Williams of the Nets & Rodman. Kerr said 'Go'. I told him: 'I was living in the Caymans & owned a small video company. DEMA, the scuba diving assoc, had invited Jason Williams down to the Caymans to learn to dive as press for Cayman Islands tourism. DEMA hired me to record his travels above the sea while dive companies would follow him below. To meet his arrival, I proudly wore a khaki polo shirt with an NBA logo congratulating the Bulls Dynasty. It was not a Bulls shirt, but an NBA polo shirt. I thought Williams should know Cayman had true NBA fans. I recorded Jason exiting the jet & meeting the DEMA officials. Jason walked up & I stopped recording to shake his hand. Williams reached out to shake my hand and pulled me closer to read my shirt. He then thumped my NBA logo with his long fingers & said 'Rodman SUXS!" & he laughed at me. I was stunned.' Steve Kerr interpreted for me, " That's because Rodman stuffed Jason Williams many, many times. Williams & the Nets were shut down against the Bulls every game because the WORM intimidated Wiliams so much he feared him. That's why Jason did that to you. From the Bulls, please accept our apologies." Steve Kerr shook my hand and solved my weird story.

If you take the style under consideration and the stats and the acomplishments he is one od the top 50 players od all time!

Your video is spot on bro 👌! Growing up watching the Bulls in the 90s, Pippen was my favorite player on the championship team. So many great players back then, and competition was fierce.

Like MJ...he craved dunking on bigs. But back then a Big would challenge your dunk. You had to earn it cause they would put a body on you. Today's bigs just watch you dunk.

In Pippen's third season he didn't just become an all star, but he also became the 3rd player in NBA history to record at least 200 steals and 100 blocks in a season. Fascinatingly enough, the four seasons that a player accomplished this feat were 86-87 (Jordan), 87-88 (Jordan), 88-89 (Hakeem), and 89-90 (Pippen). Four years in a row a player accomplished that feat, and that's the first and last time anyone has ever done that. And possibly even more fascinating is the fact that other than MJ's '88 campaign when he made defensive all first team and won DPOY, the players did not make a single all defensive team in those years! That means that the first time that MJ, Hakeem, and Pippen recorded 200+ steals and 100+ blocks in a single season, they didn't make an all defensive team even though they were the first, second, and third players respectively to do so.

St3PdOwN2UrL3v3L Agreed. Scottie was called a sidekick cause back then the majority of teams had 1 Allstar/great player, and then 2nd and sometimes 3rd great sidekicks, and then role-players. Also, Jordan was so famous world wide, was the face of the NBA, and was the dominant scorer/player, so every other player in the nba would have always been the #2 option guy/sidekick on MJ’s team, as MJ cast a huge shadow on anyone back then. Even when Rodman came to the Bulls, it was still MJ, and the rest of the Bulls. Pippen and Rodman were the key “sidekicks”. Even Boston had multiple great players in the 80’s on Birds teams and it was Bird and the Celtics. McHale was his sidekick. In todays nba, MJ, Pippen, & Rodman, could be called the big three, just like other teams from 2008-2018 etc, (Lebron, Wade, Bosh, etc).
