He's still got plenty of time to grow. I've been saying since the regular season that a prime Ant with this team could've won the title. But he ain't in his prime yet. He's still too inconsistent. A couple more years and they'll be good to go, provided they keep a similar core intact.

In all honesty people need to calm down with the expectations for these young players. Ant is still 22 and is just starting his superstar journey. "Oh but what about Magic or DRose...?" Magic won Finals MVP at age 20 in his rookie season in 1980. DRose won mvp at age 22 in 2011. See how far apart the years are. These young guy performances are once in a blue moon.

It’s dumb because basketball is not that complex. Commit for a few hours a day- go to work. It’s a ball, a game about creating space and communicating, effort and bam. Two hours long. I worked and schooled annnd partied all through college and still played on scholarship. I work two jobs full time and still play ball two hours a day. Never had a serious injury- because I wasn’t playing video games between an hour of shoot around and an hour of run throughs like the hobbled modern hooper who needs a break from two hour games three times a week. Modern dudes are so dumb. They barely run sets, catch and shoot- wide open lane, no defense, no balls. They act like having a job prevented grown men from figuring out how a basketball works.

Ant is fantastic, but the media got carried away trying to crown anyone as the next face or next MJ since Bron’s retirement is seeming closer than ever. But at the end of the day the kid is only 22 and can only go up from here

Forgot to mention that Steve Nash does have a ring. He was a player consultant for the warriors in 2017 I think. Helping curry with his shooting and Kevin Durant with his moves. So as an Arizona native and a warriors fan since 2015. I’m happy he finally got one. I remember hearing about the warriors hiring him and my 17 year old self basically said “atta boy Nash” “we’ll get you to the promise land”.

The Lebron James fan boys will criticize Jordan for getting swept by the Boston Celtics. Meanwhile, that same Celtics team also swept the talent rich Milwaukee Bucks team as well in that playoff year in the conference finals. The difference was that at least Jordan's stats were the best on the floor when he played, but he just didn't have enough support to win. The shear disdain Lebron fans have for Jordan clouds their judgment to really to have a clear rational of how good that Celtics team was and that it didn't matter how well Jordan played he wouldn't be able to win with the supporting cast he had by his side.

my belief is that he is showing potential to be one of those face of the league type players, but it’s just too early to say. I remember when these same conversations came around with Booker and here we are, with just one finals appearance to show for it. Go back to the late 90’s and early 2000’s and everyone thought Vince Carter and T-Mac were next up, but they could never get the job finished. Where he lies will all be evident with time, but when you prescribe someone to be the next MJ or league leader at a young age, it tends to lead to disappointment and ruin the overall enjoyment you can have watching a players career evolve.

A good well thought out list but i must say there is a player which has truly been forgotten and was the precursor to the swiss army knife forward like Bird and Lebron and whose talents belong in the top 30. Wilt Chamberlin at one point said he was the best player he ever played against and that was Mr. Rick Barry , i wont go into all of his plusses as far as his game but they are many and i would just implore you to do a deep dive on this forgotten legend.i will say this his 1975 playoff run to the title might be the greatest most dominant for one player in history. I believe he should be in a consensus top 30 list .my opinion of course and i find very little in your list to argue with.

I dunno man, including number of playoff games as a personal stat is kinda BS. For one, it is by definition a team stat, not a personal one. Also, someone with a bunch of game 7 series will have higher count than someone who swept all opponents, yet your comparison would penalize the latter player. Clearly Ant is on an elite trajectory but comparing 22 year olds without context is no indication of overall career path (I know it's the media playing this game, not blaming you :D). Just ask 21 year old Derrick Rose...

Len Bias never had a chance in NBA. Pure bullshit. The video itself is very cool, nice and done by basketball fan. Plus for that. I don't believe in such speculations about athletes. If someone approached professionalism in such a way that the greatest success of his life (an NBA career in the world champions' club and training for many years with Larry Bird) was celebrated by taking drugs, then I believe that such a person never had a chance to succeed in the NBA, even if he lived to see the first match. What if he celebrated his first NBA game like this? What if he approached professionalism like this from time to time? Does anyone know Michael Ray Richardson? In my opinion, Len Bias would at best be another incarnation of Michael Ray Richardson and he ended up the same way. There is no room in the KZfaq comment conditions to explain this at length. So what I wrote must be enough. Either way, for me it's pure fantasy that had no chance of happening. Yes, Len Bias could have played a few seasons in the NBA, played a few good games, could have helped the Boston Celtics win the championship in 1987. I will believe that, but not that he would have been a star equal to Michael Jordan and, together with him, popularized basketball. NO. I don't believe in that. I think he would have ended up like Michael Ray Richardson. I also don't believe he would change if he was on the Celtics. You don't change adult people. Only children can be influenced, and at the age of 22 he was no longer a child. I'm sorry, but I don't believe in his "transformation", for example under the influence of Larry Bird and his professionalism. i have enough real life experience to not believe in "Len Bias Jesus Christ Story". Such careers are only made by people with much higher professionalism when Bias ever had - taking drugs means that. I am sorry.

I disagree with the draw with Tmac. Those who watched the NBA back then, would know that McGrady was a superstar, an unstoppable scorer, an excellent rebounder and passer. He didn't go deep in the playoffs for lack of support, but he was clearly a better player than Ant is now

I don’t think he’s overhyped at all. People have a bad taste in their mouth because they had crazy expectations for the WCF and he had his worst game of the playoffs to start the series. But he still ah s a historically great playoff run at his age and like you said, you look all time at SG at 22 and MJ and Kobe are really the only guys you can argue were better at that age. And we gotta remember MJ didn’t make a conference finals until he was 25. Ant is still well on his way to being the face of the league guy we want him to be, but with the comparisons to MJ or Kobe everyone wants him to already be at the MVP peak and Championship winning level those guys were at in their prime, but they didn’t really hit that stride until they were closer to 25. Ant said himself in an interview earlier this year he’s at about 40% of what he could be. He’s got the Olympics coming up pretty soon which will likely wash those doubts out of people’s mouths pretty quickly. Could be MVP caliber as earlier as next year. He’s still that guy.

I think you could adjust for pace. This playoffs, the Timberwolves played at a historically slow pace which made ANT's numbers look worse. The 1985 Bulls in the playoffs played on a 96.8 pace. The 2024 Twolves in the playoffs played on a 90.8 pace. Adjust for pace using per 100 possessions this playoffs: Age 22 Playoff Edwards: 36ppg 9rebs 9ast 60%TS Age 22 Playoff Jordan: 34ppg 6rebs 10ast 56.5%TS Age 22 Playoff Kobe: 35ppg 9rebs 7ast 55.5%TS
