I remember a Perkz interview where he said something like: On a different day, they could have won against 2019 FPX. But if they had played against 2018 iG 100 times, they would have lost 100 times.

both rookie and theshy got a bit forgotten cause their teams arent that good anymore. while theshy is just a bit insane rookie might have been the goat if he got better teammates around him. ive never seen such an absurd skillgap as in worlds 2018. both bwipo and caps got hyped during worlds and legit got schooled.

The Shy in the past 2 series has gone 2/22. He has been on a big slump, but I've never seen a player better than him at his peak. He still randomly becomes that guy, but it seems to be less often.

I still remember what he did to Wunder and Bwipo in 2018. That man was a raid boss at worlds.

His peak is also the peak of top lane in the whole pro league history.

Honestly, out of the the players and playstyles. TheShy is THE most entertaining to watch. He has the balls to do what no other player will do. Success or failure I just love his style.

Unless Zeus and YSKM keep on improving at a dramatic rate, it will take a very long time for us to get the top laner who will surpass the peak TheShy had. He was just that good.

As we speak he started 2023 in a monster form. Then in his recent 5 games he went 2/25, it’s sucha shame because everyone knows TheShy is probably the scariest player in the world when he is in top form.

To the kids who never know who The Shy was, having the privilege to watch The Shy in 2018 was a bless and remember about those memories always giving me a goosepump.

He was underrated in 2019 , he and jackeylove single handedly carried a out of form ig to worlds that year. In spring 2019 , the shy was undefeatable in lane and if not for the team issue , they would have won both Msi and worlds

Really well put! I remember really well that semis against FPX he was carrying IG at their first win and in game 4 they fell short and he blundered a couple times, later on FPX won it all. That's The Shy 🤷‍♂, but he still remains as my fav player with Rookie, cuz they won Worlds by smashing their opponents, in my opinion that hasn't happened again, you could say Nuguri and SM(didn't win worlds by having this exact playstyle) or Kingen and Zeka(They destroyed some lanes, but not too much, only Zeka vs Scout)

Gotta love TheShy, one of my favorite players of all time.

Prime TheShy turned counterplay into advantage state, shiet was unreal to watch. It was like he would wait for his opposing laner to be at their most confident and that was when he would strike. High risk high reward, beat your opponent at their best and what do they tell themselves after that? "We fought when the odds were stacked in my favor and he still won, what more can I possibly do?" And you could see in the play of the opposing top lane their confidence was gone, it was no longer about winning it was about survival.

That's why it's always a thrill to watch theshy play, you never know what you are gonna get. Watching Faker? You dang know what's in store for you. He is basically the reverse of the: "How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?" meme as in "How many times does this old man have to teach you this lesson?" Not like I don't semi-religiously watch SKT games, all I'm saying is that the expectations are different.

The reason so many people consider TheShy the best top laner in China, is because he ended the dark time of S5-S7. I mean those were the times that no one dared to do outplays. If they were behind, they would literally stay in the tower the whole day. TheShy completely changed the playstyles of LPL players. In my opinion no one can beat the 2018 IG (literally everyone was at their peak, and unlike most LPL teams, they dared to fight) so TS, Ning, Rookie, Jackeylove, Baolan. I mean particularly in the match against G2, in the river that 1 strike 4 with Aatrox Q3, that is why most people loved him.

man that series against kt was something else, i was a kt fan and an ig fan and so i wanted them to meet in finals, but i liked kt a bit more so i thought that i would cheer kt on if they went against each other, but right the night before their series for some reason i had a dream where ig was winning and i was happy that they were winning, and so for some reason when i woke up my heart just changed and i found myself cheering for ig, and watching that flash by jackeylove in game 5 was just amazing. A lot of people say that 2022 worlds was the most hype but for me it was absolutely 2018 worlds. idk why i typed all of this but i just wanted to share because that ig line up for me was honestly just magical.

Rookie and TheShy are best laners to ever play the game for their respective roles and the meta suited them in 2018 world's. After winning world's TheShy probably lost his hunger and just didn't care enough to stay at his peak form, being in relationship, having money etc does that to most pro player's. We might never see a Rookie/TheShy kind of dominant solo lanes ever again.

I really like the going theory that TheShy just got bored and is just playing like a complete coinflip player because he just tries whatever. His cockiness during some series in this video kind of supports that theory.

TheShy still has one of the most dominant laning phase in the world, he just often int with his macro plays. If he gets ganked, he somehow doesn't lose much cs. If he doesn't get ganked, he can get a gold lead so large that he becomes a raid boss once more.

not what I expected as a video - sure very well done mini doku - probs bro good job and maybe its my wrong expectation, but instead of really asking the question who good he was - you went over the history of the player - and repeated the common consensus of that time; which again is a neat thing in a doku for newer players/viewers; but I thought you would rather question, was he really that good - what about the team, meta - opponents etc. looking for holes in the established opinion - and then compare that to his achievements or playstyle - maybe analyze how he dominated lane (certain match ups etc.) but I guess you are doing "cinematic" dokus - story building etc. - so again my bad - but hay had fun these 12min keep up the great work - looked at your channel and nearly all videos look interesting - good titels and topics :) have a good one m8

My opinion about the guy has never changed: If you talk about the overall career, TheShy may not be the greatest toplaner ever. But if you are talking about the highest ever peak individual performance in league, it will always be iG TheShy 2018. It felt like if iG starts with TheShy in their line-up, the opponent already lost top lane, no matter how much effort they put in to save it. If your jungle comes top, he gets a double kill, 3-manning him, he gets away with a double. The man won a fkin Kayle v Jayce lane, in short. And not only with lane dominance, in teamfights he is just as good, even to say better. No way to take him down without paying back severely. If you let him be, your top tier 2 will fall before 15'. If you camp him, the guy would still be 10x more effective than your toplaner, while being 0/5. Every toplaner atm looked up to him and wished they can be as GIGACHAD. He was Toplane's Faker for 2 seasons. That's just how emphatic his existence is.

TheShy arguably had one of the best performances of all time in worlds and in the top lane but he is also the most inconsistent player, I don't know if hes gonna 1v9 or int. Definitely in the top 10 top laners of all time but won't be the GOAT for me especially with how hes playing these days.

At last just take a second and imagine how it looks like if he actually had the chance to redeem every piece of his talent
