I think despite LPL not winning worlds, last year was the best LPL had ever been. they won MSI, had 3 semi finalists out of 4, but more importantly LPL finally had all 4 teams in playoffs. They had always had that one odd team who completely shat the bed (LGD 2015, FPX 2021, TES 2022 etc) but last year was the first time they broke that curse.

Dominant team of all time in lck? That is cap. But they are close to become so, if they win worlds, next msi and wordls again back to back in that way we can call them the most dominant team. Other wise t1 in 2015-2017 is the most dominant team not only in lck but in world.

@DoNotPause Ай бұрын
@maxsmith8357 "Not Azir meta" certainly explains the 77% PB%. Rather just quoting stats, go and have a think about why Azir had such high PB% despite being below 50% win rate. Azir was 3/13 against Ori but 9/14 against all other mid. The 44% was essentially all because of Ori and all 3 Ws belonged to Faker. Knight's inability to play Azir coupled with Faker making Azir work into Ori and Azir's strength into other champs meant JDG had no answers at mid.

Tbh, this year's GenG team feels even waaaaaay more invincible than last year's JDG. They feel like a solid brick wall. I know JDG 2023 have an impressive record, but they never truly felt unbeatable to me. Numerous teams had come close to beating them; they were most of the time just one mistake from getting toppled. Before T1 became the "Teamfight 1" team (getting behind early but still win the game anyway off of one teamfight) that they are known today, that team was JDG in 2023 (getting behind early game only to get back to the game in one teamfight). To me, they never truly felt invincible; they sometimes even felt shaky, tbh (although much, much less shakier than current T1), so I was never surprised when they lost to T1 because I felt like it was coming. On the other hand, GenG just takes the lead from the get go and refuses to let go of that lead. If you can't catch up, they will steamroll you over. If you somehow get ahead of them in the early game, they will play defensively and slow down the pace of the game until they can come back with their amazing macro plays. And I always found GenG to be the best defensive team in the world. That's why when they lose, it's always a shock. Every GenG loss will always feel like them choking (I never had this impression with a JDG loss in 2023). And while I don't think the EWC is as "meaningless" of a tournament as others would like it to be (I think that tournament has merit, however little that is), I also don't think it's part of the "Grand Slam/Golden Road" (at least for now), so that road is still open for GenG. But even with how GenG looks invincible right now (I don't think there's any team that's even close to their level currently, their loss to TES notwithstanding), I still somehow doubt them come Worlds, tbh, because GenG just can't seem to get it together when it comes to Worlds for some reason. We'll just have to wait and see.
@brammutje15
@brammutje15 Ай бұрын
huh this geng doesnt feel invincible at all man. peyz and lehends are consistent weakpoints and meta merchants. kiin doesnt have the vision for teamfighting and creating space like 369 does. knight has also always been a better teamplayer than chovy, so JDG was scarier and more dangerous on all fronts, echoed by all their scrim opponents. I would say GenG is suffocating to play against when they get a lead though because they have the best macro and dont bleed their lead.
@jagonz70580
@jagonz70580 Ай бұрын
@@brammutje15 their macro is precisely why I find them invincible though, not their teamfighting. I always find teams more heavily reliant on teamfighting (like JDG 2023 and current T1) to be more volatile and more prone to weaknesses because just one slip and it's all over, whereas an effective macro play is very hard to break. That their playstyle is suffocating is also a part of it; these are not mutually exclusive traits for a team to have. Just from watching their gameplay alone, it's hard to find holes against them even w/ "weak points" such as Peyz and Lehends, whereas JDG's style can be broken with good macro (LNG almost had them). That's why it's unfortunate JDG 2023 and GENG 2023 didn't get to meet last year; it was one of my most awaited matchup because I wanted to see how these two different playstyles clash. I'm more inclined to favor GenG's heavy macro play over JDG's teamfighting, but then GenG 2023 also had Doran and Peanut, so... But for some bizarre reason, GenG just become bad when the tournament has "Worlds" in it... like it's some bad juju or something. But I guess we'll just have to see and find out in the real Worlds. EDIT: also, JDG didn't have that great of a scrim record, actually. They actually tend to lose scrims; even DK had a more formidable scrim reputation. T1 and GenG were more "feared" in scrims.

@@naye6359 Yes, you are right. They were not like this originally at all; they were the team who always wins the early game (operative word: WAS). However, I said "before T1 became the 'Teamfight 1' team... that they are known TODAY" because, at present, T1 rarely wins any of their early games. They lose early games even against bottom tier teams like BRO. But they somehow win their games off of one teamfight, anyway (this is even obvious from their stats, hence, they have been dubbed "Teamfight 1" by most LCK enjoyers and called the best comeback team as of the moment (they don't always get to come back, but that's how they win games). Chronicler even referenced this once after the HLE vs T1 match and mentioned something about "HLE pulling a T1 against T1" because they won off of one teamfight after getting behind about 5k gold. This trend of T1 losing early game but winning after 1 teamfight actually showed its beginnings in MSI 2023, disappeared somewhat during Summer and Worlds 2023 (Summer hardly counts as data though since Faker wasn't there for a good portion of their run so the T1 data from Sunmer 2023 are deceptive), and came back full force somewhere in the tail end of Spring 2024 until today (most obvious during their EWC run). Caedrel also mentions this numerous times in his streams (he calls it "Classic T1 - get behind early game, win anyway". That's why I said "before T1, it was JDG 2023" because that's how JDG 2023 usually operated. Most people seem to have forgotten this, but JDG 2023 used to be THAT team that gets behind early and wins thru teamfighting, although they get to comeback most of the time compared to current T1 because they also don't get so behind as much as T1 does presently (current T1's gold deficits are much larger than JDG 2023's usual deficits on average so T1's comebacks are much more obvious than 2023 JDG's). This was why JDG 2023 was called the best teamfighting team because they win most of their teamfights even when with gold deficits; but T1 (even with their clean teamfighting) don't get called this by viewers because, while they also win most of their teamfights, they also lose teamfights more than JDG 2023 loses theirs (JDG actually barely loses) prpecisely because T1 usually operates with much larger gold deficits than 2023 JDG usually did (and also because they get to constantly get to meet GenG, perhaps the best defensive and best macro team itw and the ONLY team T1 struggles so hard to beat, while LPL 2023 didn't have a team like GENG 2023/2024 or close to a team like that for JDG to constantly parry against).

Loved the vid. Probably my favourite team roster of all time, Ruler <3
