Every Thanksgiving, people reflect on what they're most thankful for. This tradition can actually rewire your brain, and giving thanks year-round has tremendous benefits for your brain and body. Gratitude is an appreciation of what is meaningful to you. You can train yourself to constantly be thankful for the little things in life.
Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for. - Zig Ziglar
Your hypothalamus is the part of your brain that regulates critical bodily functions like your appetite. A National Institutes of Health study found that when you express kindness or feel gratitude, your hypothalamus floods your brain with dopamine. This gives you a natural high, motivating you to do good and express gratitude even more.
UCLA's Mindful Awareness Research Center found that regularly expressing gratitude changes the molecular structure of your brain, keeps your gray matter functioning, and makes you healthier and happier.

I practice gratitude every day and I can assure you that he is correct. I don't ever compare myself to anyone, I can be happy for others, my happiness level is at an all time high, and I learn not to care about what other people think of me or talk about me. It's having the self awareness and desire to be better and do better each day
@abedulrahman

How do you practice? Journaling?
@amyitis
@amyitis Жыл бұрын
@Abedulrahman it's a lot of work, but 100% worth it. I'll tell you now, I have ZERO reason to be happy because my life circumstances are not good (I have C-PTSD on top of other issues going on) but happiness is a choice. I journal everyday, I name 5 things I'm grateful for and why (even things like "I'm grateful I have a roof over my head to keep me sheltered from outside"), I meditate, do about 5-10 min of yoga each day, listening to daily affirmations, exercise every other day, take cold showers in the morning (gets your blood circulating), balanced diet, staying away from toxic social media, reading self-help books (Joe Dispenza is a good one), and the main one, is having goals/ambitions and working towards that every day. You feel a sense of purpose when you're working towards something, when you're growing, challenging yourself, learning something new. If you want to go do something or travel somewhere, do it. People dont like traveling alone but its the most invigorating thing, i learned so much about myself when i traveled alone. GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE because comfort is the death of dreams. The worst place to be is in the same place you were last year, grow.

@@amyitis Wow this is amazing advice. I have had similar outlooks. There's a saying that I love which is "Life begins that the edge of your comfort zone." It's great to try new things, not let fear of something new or failure stop you. Best wishes to you.

I believe in this so much. To see if it was true I did the opposite for 1 year. 2021 I went into every conspiracy only watched negative news. And listened to angry rock and dark rap. Hospitalized 2x for Anxiety and dehydration. Then 2022 I did the positive. Honestly even if nothing changed in the world. My own mind has been amazing. Being thankful daily for hundreds of things. I thank everyone that went to work. It takes a society of workers to make this all work. We have for more to be thankful for. In my opinion

Lately I have been hearing about how gratitude improves our lives. And have been doing a gratitude mediation some evenings and at times writing down what I am grateful for. After seeing this video I will add this to my life on a daily basis, so I am grateful for this video! Last week I tripped and fell with my favorite tea mug in hand and it is broken. As I was looking for a new morning tea mug I saw one that had "Start every day with a Grateful Heart" printed on it. Thought to myself that this will remind me to practice gratitude. And I am grateful to the wonderful chiropractor who is helping me rapidly recover from that fall. Also I am grateful that 3 months ago I decided to eliminate food items that were causing me chronic inflammation and pain. I think my reduced inflammation is allowing a rapid healing. So I am now smiling and feeling grateful.

I'm grateful for a safe place to live with a comfortable bed and a nice hot shower. I'm grateful for the nice people I get to work with and I'm grateful I can help other people with what they need. I'm also grateful for loving myself and putting myself first as it feels amazing. I can go on for days so just to say I'm grateful for being grateful.

Dr Kwik gratitude has to be practiced with caution . We must not allow gratitude to be wrongfully applied and to the wrong people. For instance a child may need to get away from destructive parents rather than being grateful to them which will only weaken and disarm a person who should fight a battle.
