The finale in "Hand of God" is a chorale; much more is going on; more business which diverts focus. This piece ends simply with "How great Thou art", in a crescendo like I have never heard before.

I, too, am an atheist and this is one of my favourite songs. So too is Amazing Grace. Just to say that one can love the music and symbols of Christianity (or any other religion) without believing the underlying doctrine and belief system.

Sam: I have been singing, playing and performing music for almost 50 years, and I have to say there aren't very many pieces that have affected me the way this just did. You just gave my goosebumps goosebumps, and brought many tears to my eyes. Assuredly, this ranks right up there with some of the most beautiful music I have heard in my entire lifetime, and I thank you for creating it from the very innermost and hidden crevices of my soul. As a Christian and as an Associate Pastor, I want to let you know in the event you are unaware, that you sing with the voices of the angels on this. You have been most certainly touched by the hand of God, and it is my honest belief He will use your talent to bless thousands, if not millions, and to bring many lost souls to an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. May God continue to bless you, and I thank you once again for blessing me the way you have today. *Note: Had to edit the post as my wife reminded me how to add and subtract! once in a while you come across a vocalist who shocks you with their talent, less frequently you come across one who blows you away and leaves you feeling like you have been on the best rollercoaster in the world - I am still trying to think of a way to describe you because you have exceeded all my 50+ years of experience. Its a great hymn and you recreated it and took it to another level completely. Well done!

Hi Sam. I still love this. Iv'e got my cancer back like an old friend who won't leave me alone. It's in my spine now and I am hopeful that the next surgery will get rid of it. I have seen a few groups of people imitate what you do and and I smile to myself that you have inspired others. You are a great gift to us all and I truly believe that the holy spirit has blessed you... like when he came down to the disciples and blessed them with languages and the power to spread His word. +Marceen Peters Hey Marceen..thank you for your prayers. Its still there and im ok apart from pains down my arms. Im sure all will be well but if not, I know where I am going, hopefully! I am still going strong and supporting my daughters, one of which has great grades and is going to study medicine and the other to go into the arts and drama. Will admit I am getting a bit tired of cancer, have lost so many friends to it and its still with me but hey ho.... such is life. I am just glad I know I have a pain free life ahead of me when I leave this one. Thank you again for your prayers and I pray the holy spirit visits you and your life. Kind regards, Mike x.

My marching band played this song this year. We listened to this on the bus ride to state. There was not a dry eye on the bus. This song captures why we work so hard to perfect 8 minutes. The hard work of 4 months to make the most beautiful show possible. The most emotional part of the show was the company front, a massive 90 member brass line marching forward playing fortissimo (FFFF). Our soul was entirely put forth into 2 sets. And this is why.

Sam, Not sure if you are still checking comments but I am a pastor and we used this video this morning in our service for our offering song. In 30 years of ministry I am not sure I can remember the congregation clapping for a video. This is my mama's favorite hymn. She had it played twice at my daddy's funeral; first as instrumental as we entered the room for the service and at the end as we sang it. I held my mama's hand as we said goodbye to him for the last time and at the same time worshiped the Lord Who is our strength and purpose and comfort. It has been almost two years now. I wonder when I will not cry every time I hear it

Hi Sam! Just wanted to encourage you to continue. You have a beautiful voice, God given talent. Your rendition brings tears to my eyes. When I look at the expanse of stars in the sky, the Grand Canyon, the salmons returning to spawn, the molecular cells working perfectly to form a new baby, how can anyone doubt that this was all designed by a divine power. WE USED THIS VIDEO AT THE BEGINNING OF MY MOM'S CELEBRATION OF LIFE. MY SISTER FOUND IT A COUPLE MONTHS BEFORE MY MOM PASSED AWAY IN NOVEMBER OF 2013, SHARED IT WITH HER, AND MY MOM LOVED IT. This is the first song I heard from you. My Mom had just passed away and this was one of her favorite hymns. It was sung at her funeral and I didn't think I wanted to ever hear it again - then you - an angelic voice - brought her back to me in a video. I was mesmerized by your method and vocals. Not much to add to what has already been said: its completely amazing how great this version of an already intense classic hymn is - it reaches right into your soul and does wonderful things!!! That said, the musical artistry here is several layers deep. For example, he uses a delightful mixture of fancy, jazzy complex chords, and straight forward, foursquare triads in a manner that is both unexpected and uplifting at the same time - he is a complete GENIUS at arranging, and this is a huge part of the resulting works of artistry that he produces.

I often come to this song early in the mornings when I’m awake and the world is quiet. I put my headphones on, blast the volume on max, and sit in the presence of the Prince of Peace. Thank you so much for letting him work through you in your gift. Blessings to you in this new year and may you continue to let Jesus shine brightly through you!

I can remember being young and hearing this song in church, I thought it was boring and for old folks. This rendition really sheds a new light on it. Praise God. I accepted Christ at age 7, this song puts goosebumps down my arms

Absolutely beautiful. This is my favorite hymn. No matter how difficult life can be sometimes, I'm thankful the Holy Spirit brings me back to the words in this beautiful hymn to the Lord, creator of the universe. Then sings my soul, my Savior, God, to thee. How great Thou art.

Sam, I have shared this on a number of occasions, with friends who were struggling with their faith, with anyone needing an inspirational lift and with my mom, who was moved to tears...tears of joy! The song was her mom's favorite, and she really thought you did it justice. Thank you for sharing your immense talent, this and 'I Need Thee' are two of my favorites.
