Psychologically speaking, silence is an incredible way to prompt someone to speak. When someone feels like finishing, if you say nothing and stare them dead in the eye, the silence makes them uncomfortable, and in an effort to break the silence, the other person speaks. He uses it effectively in the interview with the news cameraman, calling him a liar without saying a single Goddamned word. Genius.
@justinthyme8340

I believe my older half brother intentionally used this tactic to inflict psychological harm onto his "subject". If you learn about people and can figure out how to get to someone, I ask that you use it when necessary and do realize that social interactions should not be used to wear-down an unwitting mind. I want justice but who am I to dish it to him?

I don't think it's that he's the only honest one LEFT. I think it's that he's one of the first people in a new breed, better termed as the only one YET. Like, this isn't really connected to the old days of journalism that accomplished honesty with dry facts; it's another kind of genuineness that's risen from current times. People don't understand one another, and so often, they really do want to know what the people are saying in their own words. Hell, it's why people loved Trump: the things that he said were things a real person would genuinely say. Having understanding of other people's genuine thoughts is more comforting than just having the truth, at least when you're not sure that everyone even believes in the truth.

Truly, say whatever you want about ol Trump, but he was 100% right in calling them "fake news" and "enemy of the people". At some point we've gotta get together and figure out how to hold them accountable for their bullshit. Maybe bring back the FCC fairness doctrine that requires them to actually present facts rather than a 24 hour block of mouthbreather "experts" rattling off whatever idiotic opinions pop into their heads. I think the news is honestly negatively effecting this country in a major way and they need to be held accountable for their lies and blatant divisive rhetoric, imo.

Now that i see the full story of what he does and what he's about, I'm absolutely giving him subscribe now. I appreciate his show don't tell take on "news" and it's sorely needed. I love that he really gets down on the ground floor of what is happening and just shows it as it is. I love that he's not telling you how to feel. I've always gravitated towards that in news/information. Either just give me the facts/reality, or at the very least if you are going to insert your opinion i want you to differentiate the part that is the facts and the part that is your opinion on the facts. I feel like Philip DeFranco does a pretty good job of the latter for example, his whole thing is "here's the bare facts of what happened, here's how I (with all my personal biases and leanings) feel about what happened, how do you feel about what happened?" Where as say, traditional news like Fox and CNN tends to go the route of "how we feel about (insert topic here) is what happened and that's how you should feel too".

I think he is a givng a honest view of what America, and honestly what the world is. He is allowing the people to be people, and show who they are. Very refreshing compared to the mainstream media, fliping stories, twisting them, and highlighting the shock value only.

Brilliant ending with the most level headed convincing person you interviewed. The contrast between hope (the lady) and the reality of the situation (The guy).

not exactly a creator but i think it'd be interesting to do a piece on the influence taylor swift has had on the music industry, especially vis a vis her ownership of her music via the taylors version of her songs + the way she's gone about copyrighting phrases belonging to her + how she turned her career around and has changed her genre of music 3 times at this point, from country, to pop, to this new post pop phase + how she used memes to turn the hate against her in around 2014-2016 into a new brand for her, going on one of the most successful tours in history following it

Action kid - and the greater live walking tour community. I know why I clicked the first time (to check on how the streets of my old nyc neighborhood was doing during the depths of 2020) but it boggles my mind that I’ve stayed and continued to tune in at my leisure!

Andrew Callaghan and the team at Channel 5 are the best modern journalist we have today. I watch all their videos and honestly, I'm always pretty happy with the take away. But their Ukraine video really exposed just how AMAZING they are and how far they are willing to go to get the real scoop.

Love callahan. Only point I'd add is sometimes having expert tesitomy and more curated, fact-checked news is also important. Just asking the man on the street definitely gets interesting results, but is susceptible to all the same flaws of mainstream media

I absolutely love andrews videos, but as far as being the only honest man left in news or the greatest of all time journalists. Like it is possible to just appreciate the dude and his work without having to make it out to be something it isnt, its great content, engaging, and entertaining, but more than half his stuff is just that, entertainment.
@facE055
@facE055 2 жыл бұрын
all his stuff is just that, when he touches serious topics his bias is just as strong or stronger than the mainstream. everybody commenting about how honest or unbiased he is either hasn't watched any of his content or has no idea what bias means.
