@@jeremies7489 Yeah...That actually factored heavily into why I believe what I wrote above. As time passes I look back on work he did far earlier and can see how prophetic he was even then. Some of the observations and insights he made as far back as Hells Angels ring eerily true today and are as relevant as ever. P.S. Just realized you weren't replying to me. The notification psyched me out. Sorry about that, but what the hell, the point still stands.

Eh. I would say it doesn't have to be that extensive. I took it to imply some form and/or degree of intoxicating substance usage, but not necessarily full tilt.

My girlfriend worked for the good doctor in the late 90eez her first day of work hunter answers the door with a double barreled shot gun invites her in and dissappears for half-hour comes back with a tray with four big line's of coke and three shots of scotch. He was a real shit

Where the Buffalo Roam was awesome, but the thought of Hunter's influence not being squashed & can only lead to wonder how much more awesome it coulda been. Because it still wasn't weird enough for me...

Why isn't anyone talking about the fact that Hunter is saying that he hated what the Hollywood executives did to his script and that he thinks the buffalo roam is funny because it's a disgrace to what he originally had in mind, he even says "I support Neil Young to do what ever he wants to do, he's one of us, but not in my own backyard" meaning his vision as the creator of the original script, I think

HST doesn't say it was a poor portrayal, just that he didn't like the script. He sounds as though he just didn't like being characterized. By Doonesbury or Hollywood. I had to get an Uncle Duke action figure though. It goes with my Nixon Bobblehead. LOL

I prefer Depp's Hunter in "Vegas," but I''m biased in that I found Vegas to be his best book, chronicling America's descent into tacky, gaudy decadence----and all while partaking in his own drug-filled decadence and "bad craziness"----but to paraphrase one of his famous quotes on drugs and booze.....it worked for him.

I've looked into those claims a good deal and believe they are baseless. The person who said someone was introduced to them as Hunter Thompson -could not identify Hunter S. Thompson when shown a few pictures of different people, and that's just one reason I don't believe that bs. Look into who Hunter S. Thompson really was by reading his work and looking at him in interviews. See what he says and see if it matches up with the lies you've been told. In the Letterman interview, Hunter clearly says, "I'm a hillbilly", not "I've been to hillbilly". He's talking about how much he hates George Bush.
