I have a clutch issue that you maybe able to help me with , (2012Commander 800 Which I bought new )the clutch has a very noticeable chatter when driving at a cruse level (Neither pulling or coasting at any speed) I suspect it is coming from the secondary clutch helix/cam . I have had a stock primary and cvtech drive clutch on it and the issue does not change . the sheaves are in good condition . I noticed in the parts diagram that the secondary spring is a flat face compression spring only and 2013 and up spring has a pin formed on both ends that inserts into the helix and inner sheave which would maintain contact of the helix and sheave slide area. could this be an upgrade to an earlier (2012) issue. I can not find any reference to this on the internet but it is quite loud and very annoying !!! The part numbers for the helix and sheave of both years are the same , only the spring differs.

I would think the tranny shaft is different and you are stuck with the secondary you have, if you have not replace it then do. But really not a whole lot to go wrong in a secondary, bad rollers, helix etc. So I would dissemble it if you have not already. and see what you see. I have never see this vehicle in person except one time, back when I was testing it before release but never saw the clutch in it

Bought a brand new 23 maverick trail 700. Keep getting low gear warning on flat land in high gear. No matter the speed. It's intermittent. Took to shop where I bought it, they claimed not under warranty. Replaced the belt and still same thing. Any advice?

Unfortunately not, I have not seen a Maverick 700 before and first i have heard of a low gear warning. What is that?

@@Hunterworks Its basically the computer checking the engine RPMs versus the speed of the vehicle, if there is a mismatch in values then the vehicle starts limping and shows LOW GEAR warning, indicating the driver to shift to low gear. The computer does this because it believes the vehicle is going up a steep incline in high gear and that the belt is slipping. However, This happens on flat land at speeds anywhere between 8MPH to 60MPH. It's intermittent and I don't know what is causing it. I have replaced the belt on day 2 of ownership. The dealer I bought if from says it's not covered under warranty and that I smoked the belt on day one. However, they gave me the old belt back and says it's still good as a back up belt. I think there is something else wrong.

@@rccowboys I am going to assume that 700 has the Pdrive primary and that is not one we have been into yet. But if it was any other vehicle, I would be lookin at engine rpm and see if the clutch was in fact slipping. Then if so, see what part is causing the problem. Then it could be an issue with the ECU and nothing wrong at all with the clutches. This is a tough one form since we have non experience with this particular vehicle.

How do the belts hold up to more horsepower say 300 at the wheels?

Apparently well. There is one on a wall for taking 300 HP for 1300 miles and still didn't break

My 15 XMR 1000 just got a new primary and stp secondary has 1000kms on it. Just got back from dealer after a full rebuild and I can’t ride past 4500 rpm’s without a brutal screaming from the belt. Unbelievably loud. Also clutch slips out at about 80 comes out of gear. Dealer said he tightened the shifter cable and that’s sometimes brutal to get in and out of gear. Iv had issues with the dealer before not doing the best of work so I’m extremely ticked off. Any ideas?

I’m no fan of stm clutches but what brand primary is it?

@@Hunterworks stock. Brand new. Had zero issues before it had to be replaced. The stm had worked amazing with the stock prime had water issues and messed the prime up…. I spent 7000 rebuilding the entire machine and a lot of clutch and trans only for it to absolutely scream at 4500rpm.

@@Hunterworks it’s definitely frustrating. I am going to try a clutch alignment. Do you have a video suggestion and where I can buy the best tool for it. Sorting my shop right now to do the tear down.

@@wayner1147 no such tool can am really can’t be out of alignment because the engine is attached to tranny with guide pins.

Most of videos I watched are doing clutches on v twin models. See very little on single cylinder models like 400,450,and 500 models. I know they work a little different. Be nice to see a video on them too.

I have a cluttering noise on my machine at idle that I hear through the cvt exhaust vent. This persons video mimics that sound. I doubt this is normal so what parts do you recommend to repair it and do you sell them? Are your tools available yet? Thanks. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/htSPp89jysiufaM.html

@@Hunterworks 3000. I believe by looking at the machines condition and hearing the old owner that the majority are just road miles.

@@freshmaker5 If you only hear it while idling and due to miles, not sure I would do anything but if you wanted to, replace the buttons and there are some orings under three of them that I recall.

@@Hunterworks yes I notice it at idling. I found another video that seems like the same noise. They added a washer to each of the bolts that hold the weights that flip out and it solved it. This is a common problem here in New Zealand, we repair hundreds of these suckers. We claim over 65% of all worldwide warranty but sell only less than 1% of defenders produced. We have 3 years warranty here. The diff lock disintegrate in gearboxes on Defenders

WE have a defender, have not heard about diff lock messing up but we are clutch people so may not know that one. We did burn up the front diff and put in a halo locker
