This is exactly how I feel about Magic anymore. I just want to collect and play and enjoy the game for what it is! I try not to fall into the drama, its nice to see a channel that shares the same views.

Have over 100 each of half a dozen low end RL cards from FE/Ice Age/Homelands, bought my first 4 OG revised duals this year, and have bought a ton of vintage bulk to start assembling partial sets from at insane bulk prices (1-5 cents/card), this year has been a great year to start going hard on old school.

Love the honesty. I try to collect the core set of each set that comes out but over the years 2022-2023 it feels like almost impossible to collect every set but I try!

Sold off my high-end stuff a year ago, kept everything else for cube draft though. Any card thats more than $50 I get rid of it and proxy it. Just a lot less headache when playing with them and no risk. Vintage bulk is certainly a buyers market, been filling up my closet, hope it continues into 2024.

Adding old school Magic cards to my collections is the best. At some point I would like to add Alpha Serra Angel and Time Walk. Serra Angel (original art) is my most wanted card.

as someone who played OG magic from 20 years ago only to pick it up again, I remember spending $4 bidding on a super old shivan dragon (it wasn't a beta or whatever but maybe 4th edition or something idk), and getting it! I was super hyped and thus started my dragon collecting endeavors. Soonafter, at a local HS event, one of my local teachers had a bunch of PAGES of dragons, and I still remember how elated I was to look through his collection. He even gave me another couple shiven dragons for free too. I haven't ever considered lands but it seems like a good idea to re-up on new lands. I never got into lands really, I come from a time where foils were hard to come by, so even getting a regular foil land was pretty great. I had a binder (now lost) of mis-print and some other sentimental cards that I had over the years. It's too bad it's gone, but I may get into "casual" card collecting again. I'd like to restart my collections again but start with a few functional decks first hah ++

To be honest, MTG is draining wallets like crazy, and because of reprint madness its vaporising money as well. So now they came up with -/500 series. It will never end.

Never understood sealed booster collecting. It's literally Schrodinger's Cat value. The unknown literally keeps its value until it's known, then either crashes or rises hard. Each their own.
