For those of you who are interested in turning your hobby into a career. I now have a course teaching you everything I know about making and selling sample packs. I suffered for years and made a lot of mistakes along the way to acquire all this knowledge and do it right - and unfortunately, none of this info was out there when I was getting started. So if you're serious about turning this into a career, then hopefully this can help you hit the ground running.😀 www.productionmusiclive.com/products/how-to-make-a-sample-pack

Very interesting, thanks a lot for sharing Jules. Over the years, I've studied the biographies of many successful people (in music and other fields). This is the one thing that's never missing: "Focus on one thing and put in the hours". That's how it works.

Exactly. My biggest mistake was not being focused on one thing - waking up every morning with a new business idea and constantly being distracted. Got there in the end though!

Started from 0 as well. After I realized I wanted to produce full time, I got myself a part-time Office job to be able to pay rent and the basics, and spent the rest of the days producing music and building up PML. You have some of the best production tips on this particular style so they’ve been fun to watch, and I’ve definitely learned a lot. Thank you for sharing your story with us. It’s not often that producers / musicians / etc… share such thorough experiences of how they started to break away from the 9 - 5 to start finding success in their craft. Really appreciate you breaking down multiple revenue streams at the end as well. Hope you keep finding success with your music. ✌️

Jules, I can not stress how much of an inspiration this was for me! Thank you so much for being so open and sharing (some of) your life story with us. I'm in a place right now in my life much like yours in ~2015, I have a full time job as a structural engineer and I try to make time for music production during the week. Even when working, I have one screen for work and one is almost always showing a music production tutorial. I've been struggling with discipline and really putting in the time needed so this was really motivating and inspirational. Since two weeks back I've reserved sundays (as much as I can) for studio days where I focus only on music production. I really love your start to finish videos as well, they help me a lot whenever I experience creative blockade. Thanks so much once again for this and everything else you do, really helps us up & coming producers. One question I want to ask you: You got any tips for handling creative blocks?

I havent got any official releases yet but I am compiling a few of my strongest tracks to send out to singers to see if they would be interested in collabs. The only thing I dont understand is where the money come from so a fulltime producer can live decently without working. I am not talking about selling services like mixing mastering or sample packs. I am talking about releasing tracks. How much could someone earn from a release on Monstercat Silk, Colorize or This Never Happened. They are big labels but not like anjuna or afterlife. I was always thinking that.
