Last week I told you that I am starting a new video series to help educate and empower women in the community regarding everything birth! Today, in an effort to help you get to know me a little better, I want to share my personal story on how I became a midwife. This journey has been amazing. I look forward to showing you how #itsyourbirth is leading the way in shifting the current birthing culture into a more family centered model of care.

I love your journey in becoming a midwife! I'm currently a doula and also work in an OB office for over 9 years. It's been interesting seeing both worlds and supporting mamas (and dads) through it all. The midwife guest speaker was so right!! Many of us doulas are midwives and don't even know it yet!! That resigned with me and gave me goosebumps as well!

Hello! I'm researching midwifery schools. The most important aspect is accreditation. Google "MEAC accredited schools" and research all the schools listed. Some of the schools are distant learning and/or hybrid!

It is worth exploring all types of midwives which are valid whether the law recognizes them or not. Part of the process is deciding what your values are, how you’d like to practice and where etc. You will find out whether you align with traditional midwifery, certified professional CPM, nurse midwifery CNM etc. Hope you found where you want to be
