What I love about you is that you are an amazing artist but you are not afraid to show your mistakes or tell us what you are not happy with (i.e the leaf). It's nice to see that other than people creating art and making it look like they have never made a mistake in their life with their art which makes others feel inferior. How you explain art is like we can all obtain a great standard no matter our style. Thank you for that x

The problems with loving to draw, dance and sing. If I'm drawing, I'll want to put music on, so I put music on. But then I hear a song with a good beat and I get up to dance to it. When that songs over and I sit back down, a good song to sing to comes on, and I start singing, which gets me distracted, and this cycle repeats until I finish the drawing a months later.

For the past few weeks I’ve been trying desperately to remember what the podcast was that I listened to during my college studios SO THANK YOU FOR THE COMPLETELY RANDOM REMINDER. Also, as someone who paints skin, it was so nice to hear you talk about different colors within things. Literally every color of the rainbow is in skin. 🤗 I can’t wait to experiment doing that with pencils now instead of paint. This video was a perfect brush up from my college days. Thanks for the reminder and the motivational push I needed to get started!

You just verified what I thought was alright ... to use both Crayola colored pencils and Prismacolors. I have both and I also noticed the 2 grades of color in them. I always worked with oils because I was originally trained with oils. Acrylics had just started on my last year of school. I didn't like them because I was never taught the way to use them. Then I saw the fantastic, realistic work that was produced in STAR WARS. I found out all that realistic work was done with acrylics. All I had to do was LEARN to change my technique of oils to acrylics. When I saw a few shows on how experts did it, I was ready to fly. Now my last challenge is colored pencils. I have taken a couple of classes on techniques of using them but your tutorial is what I like. You SHOW as you go along HOW yo use your pencils. This has taught me alot. Now I know what I'll be doing. If you think when you are young that you can get too old to learn ... I'm 72 ... and I'm still learning and loving it! Thanks SuperRae .

@kendelchambers3449
@kendelchambers3449 6 жыл бұрын
Erin Hankie yes! This is the only way I sharpen my Prismacolors. It's because the inner core of the pencil is so soft, to allow for better blending. This makes the core more prone to breaking.

This helps so much since I'm a black and white artist. I rarely use color but when I do I only do it to highlight one spot of my drawing

I also like how you use cheap pencils as well. I cannot always be buying prismas and to see you using them together is very helpful

I got really confused when you put your pencil on the paper in the intro because I forgot that it was flat. Good job on the blending, it had me fooled even though I knew XD I always admire your skill, especially the hair you draw, you always manage to make it look even better when I think its done. I also like how you say that it's your way in the title instead of how to, and repeat that there's no specific way to art, you're right, it's an expression.

Awesome! So beautiful and I love how you incorporate artist level tools with just any ol basic tool, shows that we don't have to be top of the line (tool-wise) and yet can bring about amazing professional level art! You're right we are the artist and we can do whatever works for us! :)

That's amazing! I've never seen anyone do it that way before. I love the idea of mixing high and low cost items, as well as unconventional items, to get the effect you want. :)
