Do you remember when you were a teenager and thought you were immortal? That you could handle everything and say ‘yes’ to every challenge thrown at you? My friend dared me to build a guitar for the Rolling Stones. Here's what hapened.
Jeroen Gmelich is guitar builder from the city of Den Helder. He started to work in a music shop at the age of 18. In 2010 he became the owner and he developed his own guitar brand, Jerome's Customs, which builds guitars for the world greatest musicians.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Dude, the crowd grew up with music from 2000’s and at the very earliest ‘90’s music. You want clapping? Need to fill the room with geezers or people with good taste in music.

Good for you, brother! You got to do something nice for a true living legend that will never be undone by anyone, or any principal, or power on this earth or anywhere else! Also you realised your dreams and no one can take that away. It also shows your skills as a luthier and a friend not simply a fan. Thank you for sharing this video with us. I would've never known had you not posted it.

I use Open E Tuning & put a capo on the 3rd Fret which gives me Open G Tuning w/ an additional High String, which is a little bit uncommon but it sounds much clearer.

summit what‘s your source for it being a 1953? My source is Andy Babuik - Rolling Stones Gear published circa 2013 in which it states that Micawber is a modified 1954 Telecaster gifted to Keith Richards by Eric Clapton.
@JumpinJeppeFlash
@JumpinJeppeFlash 5 жыл бұрын
@@Gretev1 Well, Andy Babiuk is wrong. Micawber is a 1953 Telecaster and Malcolm is a 1954 Telecaster, the body on that one has been sanded down way back in the 70s when Keith used Malcolm as a spare.

The Rolling Stones don't walk on water, they make and perform rock n roll music. But I'm glad this guy got his dream to build Keith a great guitar and work for them for free as a roadie. And now he can monetize this opportunity. And he genuinely seems happy to share this experience.

If you’re a fan of guitars or music, Keith does walk on water. Think of how many rock stars the world has produced - he’s THE rock star. No one does rock and roll better than Keith Richards.

Who cares if Keith got this dudes guitar, does Keith actually play it and use it is the question.
@IanBillen
@IanBillen Жыл бұрын
Keith Richards personally played and tested it out in private ... and remarked to this person that the guy built a guitar ... and then Keith actually decided to play it on stage that very night ... (with respect .. but what more can one ask for, man... ??). Doesn't matter if Keith uses it all the time or he never played it again. He dug the guitar to the point that he was willing to go out there on stage in front of 65,000 people and play it that very night. Keith Richards takes his guitars, live set and his job quite seriously and always has... The kat doesn't overly appease or risk his music on anyone. So by him doing that was the ultimate 'Mission Accomplished' there, Mate .. Lol Yikes the question you speak of was easily answered given the scenario that occurred.
