Anyone can build a shed like this! Sharing tips and inspiration to get you started on your shed build for storage, a greenhouse, sunroom, studio, or a hangout spot to keep you dry. I had no plans and very little building experience, but learned so much from this project. You're invited to see the start to finish, including my non-traditional campfire painting method, things that I did right and wrong, my hurdles, learning curves and my successful outcome. It was a proud day when it was completed and if I can build, anyone can!

Excellent first time build! I’ve built 10 8x10 buildings for various friends. I had prior building experience, but I can say that I learned something new on each build, so never stop improving! I’d recommend two things if you build another one in the future. First, never build the floor structure with anything less than 2x6 lumber! 2x8’s are even better, but the longer the span is, the wider the joists need to be. There’s lots of reference material online to help you pick the proper boards, and they always require southern yellow pine for floor joists. Spruce/pine/fur, or SPF, studs are not acceptable because they cannot carry the weight load of yellow pine! Secondly, any lumber that rests on masonry (concrete or brick/block) needs to be pressure treated to prevent rot from the inevitable moisture that will collect between the wood and masonry. Also note that basically all pressure treated lumber yellow pine! You should be proud of your shed, and don’t mistake this for “trolling”! Just some helpful hints that you might find useful in the future! Cheers!

I appreciate your advice, and did learn quite quickly that I should have used a stronger and wider foundation wood, especially with the overkill amount of support beams I added as shelves ☺️ I definitely learned from mistakes on my first build. They were valuable mistakes though! The She Shed is holding up well since last fall (actually much better than I expected.) We had heavy snow and lots of rain. I’m doing my best to drain away from the shed and have a water barrel for the gutter. Now I’m working on renovating a new to us RV. I’m custom building furniture (much better outcomes than my first attempts) as well as painting and redecorating. I have fallen in love with building and look forward to each new project. I bought a new cordless jigsaw today. Now I won’t have to borrow one. My tool supply is getting pretty impressive and the hardware store loves me ☺️. I look forward to sharing a before and after video of my current renovation. Thank you for sharing with me, I do appreciate advice since I am a rookie at building. I never work from any plans (maybe I should sometimes) but I enjoy the creativity and taking a leap of faith 😊 If it weren’t for people like you sharing your knowledge, I wouldn’t be able to learn quickly. Debbie, you are my kinda gal, we're even about the same age! I'm in the process of collecting materials for my she-shed/maybe future grandchildren playhouse. I have some building experience, I've built a few trellises, a couple of chicken coops and runs, but I DON'T enjoy the process of building, I actually hate it! However, I enjoy saving money doing it myself and the finished product, that's what keeps me motivated -- the thought of the finished product. I have shed (pun intended) many MANY tears and let far too many "colorful metaphors" slip past my angry quivering lips (Lord forgive me!)- so I completely understand where you are coming from. Your sweet lil she shed may not be perfect, but --- YOU DID IT!🥹❤️

I love your pun! 👍 I do enjoy the process of building, but often doubt my capabilities. It hasn’t stopped me from building though and I have since built a woodshed, a bath house, a greenhouse, and a raised garden bed. I'm about to attempt building 12' x 20' shed on a pre-existing foundation at 51 yrs old with no experience..I'm thrilled to have found your video! Your she is so empressive.. Great job !

Thank very much , to give me , the courage and inspiration .To take you ideas , to do this project is been in my mind for sou long . And wall sou I want to do my shelf . You did an awesome job! I'm working on the interior of my she shed over the winter. I already have it insulated just have to put some blue board insulation on the ceiling between trusses. I want them exposed to paint white. I'm using exterior wood siding inside half way up and then sheet rock for upper half. All will be painted white. Can't wait to post photos of my finished she-shed!

Congrats on your hard work Linda! 🙌 I am in the process of moving and the she shed was transported to our new spot. It was suspended in the air at one point and I’m so proud of my overkill build because it made it to its new spot without even making a squeak! 😊 I will share video of the move when we get settled and get our new internet connected.
