No I haven’t replaced any parts yet, but I did just order the inner felt as it looks like it snapped as you can clearly see in the video. I might be making this up but I think the burrs are good for 500 pounds of coffee so thats going to take a while for me.

Yes iv done the same before when I didnt have the torque wrench but now that I have it, I look forward to it.

@@coffeeauthorityFor me, I did opened up every parts and cleaned up thoroughly. But I screwed up the soft felt, so I had decided to just vacuum it as what I am doing now.

Same here. I just ordered 2 new ones just in case. Should cone in in the next two weeks. It was cheap here in the U.S- only 6 USD.

Yes that was the felt washer and it was replaced. I just didn’t have one when the video was made.

@@coffeeauthority awesome, would you review the Barista Express? You mentioned upgrading to a seperate grinder, is the built-in not any good? Would you recommend it Barista Express?

I would recommend it. Its a great beginner machine and I have had it now for over two years. The grinder is fine but there are better separate and more expensive options.

@@coffeeauthority I'm looking at this and the Barista Touch only for the auto-milk and the ease of use for my wife, but I understand other than the touch and auto-milk both are the same machines, what would you recommend out of the two?

Great question, but hard to say. I clean the grinder every time when I clean the machine, so about every two weeks.

Sometimes coffee gets clumpy and if its clogged that grinds might not fall effectively into the portafilter. Then you would clean it out.Id say the amount of coffee grinds looks normal on this video (doesnt look clumpy) but its just good practice to clean it out. But you could probably get away without doing it so much if the coffee is coming out fine...my two cents.. also if old coffee grinds are attaching themselves they fall into the fresh coffee indiscriminately and get mixed...so another idea is mixing old coffee grinds and fresh... this could contaminate the taste a tiny bit..LOL If you are purist you want nothing but fresh coffee in your portafilter..no old clumpy grinds that finally dropped months later...LOL that .001 of a gram could really offset the taste..keep it fresh..LOL

i give it a clean every time i buy a new bag. this ensure as little left over grinds going stale as possible. not this deep clean but up to the point of removing the grinder
