A golfer came to me with the dreaded shanks. In this video I explain what we discusses and how I cured his golf shanks. If you have experienced the golf shanks you will know how destructive they can be but it's not the end of the world. It can be cured and confidence in you game can easily be regained.

For a golf swing that is CONSISTENT, provides a flat left wrist, compression, lag and more. Steve's EUREKA GOLF SWING is now being implemented in 52 countries taking the golfers game to a place that allows the body to turn, the flight to straighten and compression to become a reality.
The starting place is the "iron swing series" offering the set of the Eureka Golf Swing canes and a step by step tutorial of the full action.
REMEMBER: as Steve says, "There is a difference between opening your stance and aiming left".

Just got handicap down to 13 and changed driver swing for more accuracy. That change caused me to inadvertently change the head position on my irons on takeaway and a Shank arrived from nowhere. This video cured it in one - the spine angle reference was spot on. First time I tried it and shank gone. This is a genuine and really grateful comment - thanks SJ -

I am playing golf for close to 50 years, 40 of which were spent in middle single figures. A shank was never too far away from me in all these years. In fact, I recently became prone to a dose of these miserable " visitors from the East" on very short chip shots. Couldn't figure it out. Now thanks to your above video, I discover that I have been less than careful with my grip on these particular shots! Another type of Eureka moment. Well done and thank you Steve.

Thanks, Steve! I love the change of emphasis and focus, "you're here to hit good golf shots you're not here to stop shaking"! It's so important to be focused on the positive rather than the negative. Personally, I can go months without hitting a shank and then from nowhere I suddenly start hitting hosel-rockets! But I just have to reset my grip back to 21/2 knuckles (left hand) and both V's pointing to my right shoulder and Boom the shank is banished again!

I'm so happy I came across your videos! I had the worst case of the shanks one can imagine. I'm talking 8 out of 10 shots right off the hosel! Your approach quickly helped me regain my confidence and reminded me how the right hand works in the swing. Since watching this video, I discovered many other great videos that you've created and they have all helped rekindle my enthusiasm for the golf. I was seriously ready to retire from the game but now I'm ready to dive back in! Thanks again for sharing your approach and thanks for the great humor along the way!

Thank You!!! Played 2 rounds over the weekend - 36 holes - and shanked 1 iron and that was after I took a phone call thus losing my concentration. After the 1st 5 or 6 irons shots I gained confidence and am back hitting the irons like I was about 6 weeks ago. Will include watching this video as part of my warm up routine to reinforce the swing thoughts . great Job!!

Watched this lesson a couple of times and had a lot of practice swings in the garden. Went to the practice range today and had a good session with only a couple of unmentionables out of 50 balls. Great idea on the emphasis on hitting better shots rather than trying to cure the unmentionable by using a trick. Thanks Steve for this great instruction, I might now risk getting back on the golf course.

Steve I was shocked at how your advice made total sense. I am only 9 holes away from the shanks every time I play. The cure would always be to stand further away from the ball which would work for a while. I have been left on the range by two professionals who took my money and lots of it only for me to be worse than ever. I recently shot a level par 9 then next round the shanks returned. I tried everything to no avail. Watched the usual videos which didn't work. When I saw your video and the neutral weak right hand I saw me immediately. I went straight out and took your advice on the right hand and was totally stunned at the results. The strike quality was crisp centre to toe. A position not found for years. Brilliant advice I feel I owe you money

Lol to be fair steve none of the experts on KZfaq mention the grip, particularly the right hand. It's amazing how you came to this conclusion and the effect it has on the takeaway and delivery, bringing the club face on line and square. I've achieved distances and accuracy that I've never achieved in 30 odd years. Hybrid just amazing and it's all down to finding the centre of the face

Great video. Have suffered on and off with shanks for many years,( I have tried most “fixes”)used the one handed drill today on the range and it got me back on track, played a few holes afterwards and flushed it! Thank you very much. P.S. I enjoyed your “stack and tilt” videos.

Thanks Steve, I was a 7 handicapper and find myself with little time to play golf these days. I've suffered from time to time with the S-word. The latest bouts have been two weekends of consistent hosel-rocket shot after shot at the driving range. However, often the advice that hasn't worked, has been balance related. I realised listening to you and an American - "The Open Stance Academy - Open Stance Cures"- that I've had a bad habit of setting up closed. So just watching your eureka video last Saturday made me realise why Hogan had the open stance, particularly for the shorter irons. Clear the hips! Us amateurs have a problem with this. A big thanks. Back to purer, straighter strikes again. This has plagued me for years and now it has literally been a "eureka" moment! Slainté

Brilliant video. I am close to a + handicap when it comes to shanking (some close to 90 degrees) but am still playing off a single figure. The shank is the most soul-destroying, confidence-draining shot in golf & I have been searching for the solution for many years. 2 shots just short of the green on a par 5 eyeing up a birdie when suddenly I am in a bunker or a ditch or in a bush etc etc & end up with a double or worse. I have seen most of the KZfaq videos on the subject but until now none have really helped. Steve I like your analysis re the grip, the alignment of the clubface with the spine angle & the right-hand drill. As you say the video is not about shanking but about how to hit a good golf shot. My problems are weak grip, fanning the club open, then leading with the heel on an in to out line & bending the knees on the way through. Just tried your advice in the back garden & it all seems so simple and so correct. A bit windy & wet today so will be off to the club in the next few days to put it into practice. Will report back next month after 36-hole competition but great to have something to work on. Incidentally my first name is also Brian!

This makes so much sense, you got right to the point unlike other videos that drag it out. Tried this change and for some crazy reason I am no longer hitting my head cover in the garage. ( I am placing the head cover about 1" from my spot ) Before this video I was hitting the cover all the time, now with this 1 change I have been trying to hit the cover.. and can not.. Next week when I can get to the range I am now looking for to getting back out there.. thanks for this! the way you explained it made a whole lot of sense too...

Good video. I’m a single figure handicap player but do certainly have a shank in me. More so nowadays in the garage on the SkyTrak which isn’t much fun with a long iron. Watching your video certainly highlights some of the bad practices I do to try to avoid them, which consequently means I hit more. I’ll use your tips from now on. Thanks

As a teenager I played off 1. In my early 20s I stopped playing and now at 64, I have time and have restarted. I'm now off 20, still very fit and athletic, but shank multiple times each round. I generally have plenty pars, but at least 2 " blow ups". Yesterday I shanked 3 OB at the same hole. I feel like quitting again.

My first shank occurred on the approach shot to a par five hole. After hitting two first class shots, I had a 90 yard wedge over water. This was a meaningful golf match and I was a bit nervous. Shanked that little wedge into the water then rinsed and repeated the mistake. I scored a 9 and was demoralized. My instructor showed me on video that I was doing exactly what your student was doing. I stopped shanking but truth be told, I still think about those two hosel rockets when facing a forced carry shot with a scoring club in my hand.

Steve: I've reviewed all your videos that I could find. Love your stuff and I've tried the Eureka swing with some success. However, I'm 68 and find myself constantly nursing injuries from too much golf, as I'm told. I do think, though, it's because I continue trying to swing like I was 20. Too much tension and torsion on my body - knees, hips, wrists, elbows and shoulders. I've always been competitive and want to be good at what I do. I've finally realized I can't swing a club like I did when I was 20. So, please, please, please create a video for us seniors who have lost lots of flexibility and who are tired of being hurt from "too much golf". I need an easy on the body effective swing. I've seen many videos on this topic but I'd like your view. Thank you.

John, I have shortened my backswing and developed a more wristy swing for the reasons you mention. However , it has lead to more shanks which brought me here. A work in progress but my ball striking is better on the whole with more consistency of distance.

Shanking - - I think SJ might want to remind us all that it is important to commit to either Eureka or your old swing - changing did not help me and actually became a little disheartening! I found that I needed to adjust my swing to suit my body movement and it ended up a little higher at the top than the lessons suggest if only to ensure my swing was not too flat like baseball. Hips drive the body, shoulders fall onto plane, arms swing and release to target - hands stay in front to the club head = boom = fun!

I’m finally getting on top of my shank. I swing too much from the inside and the hands go out to the right. You can try as many quick fixes as you like but if you have that particular problem, it really won’t resolve until you get your hands lower through impact and travelling left. (Right handed golfer) it’s easier said than done because it feels awful to start with but it’s the only medicine I’ve found that will actually stop it for good
