A MacBook Pro is where you would ideally want to start. If that is a little too out of your range, you can also get an Ipad with an apple pencil and use adobe Illustrator that way! Some things are easier to do on a laptop vs. a tablet, but they both get the job done! I know my reply comes a little late after your question and you may have already purchased something, but this is my suggestion as a fellow illustrator and graphic designer!

@@danygartman DALL E 2 is a new AI system that can create realistic images and art from a description in natural language. For some time I've been aware of AI-generated art, including the first iteration of DALLE. I've always found it impressive, but DALLE 2 raised the bar quite a lot in regards to quality and accuracy, so much so that's it somewhat concerning me. If that's what AI can do today, one can only imagine what it'll do in the future. So I came here searching for your guys' opinions. Should I continue my studies, alter them, or does my artistic future look bleak?

@@kuvvatashyrov2677 There are many advancements in the field of web design where a complete layman can come, pick a theme and just fill it with content, rendering a lot of web designers/developers 'obsolete'. In reality, it's not as bleak as that since - just as it will be with AI art generators - there's still a lot of fine tuning, details, creativity which simply elude the AI / neural network. And some work that people commission you for, if we're being objective, is menial and almost automated and in that regard the question is raised do you really want to be making small money on the side and spending time doing those? We automated a whole lot of physical manufacture, especially menial repetitive stuff and we're better off. My point is that you shouldn't fear for your work, if anything, even if the worst comes to shove there will always be a sleuth of clients who are against AI-generated stuff and prefer working with humans. I too have been following developments in neural networks, deep learning etc and it can be frightening but just like one shouldn't be discouraged to keep pushing for their own career and life in spite of the pandemic, the war etc, the same goes for pushing regardless of these developments. There are also a lot, really a lot of niche fields where you can use your art and illustration knowledge which will escape the grasp of AI generated art for many years to come, so don't worry. Just keep working on yourself, and use these fears as fuel to be more creative and keep pushing your limits. And remember, if your artist future looks bleak, pretty much every artist's future does. So if things really go south, we can have an artist revolution and bring back medieval times together :D
