Thanks for the shout out! In reference to the question about battery conditioning threshold. They are referring to how low can the battery be before you can no longer activate it. Ioniq 5 in US is currently around 20% where it will turn off but I’ve been testing the Kia EV9 for the last week and I found that it will continue to condition the battery down to about 12% state of charge which is much better.
@CarSceneKorea
@CarSceneKorea 3 ай бұрын
I actually have personally experienced having the battery down to a single digit before arriving at a charging station (the one I meant to go were out of service) so never suspected there being such threshold. Interesting!🤔 I might be getting things confused, but I’m pretty sure it was less than 5% that Ive experienced.

Great review. It certainly looks like they have resolved lots of the issues from the pre facelift model. The rear seat belts are annoying and the lack of rear wiper. My other issue was the location of the usb port to connect to wired CarPlay. It was quite a reach to get to. But I suppose they have resolved that with wireless CarPlay.

Hey! Thanks for your videos. Can you disable the automatic captions that turn on whenever I play any of your videos? Your english is great, no need for the captions, ever. They even turn back on after each ad break. Madness! My biggest gripe with the IONIQ 5 PE is the confirmation that the original IONIQ 5 5W infotainment system will never be upgraded by Hyundai to get ccNc’s improved features. My 6 month old IONIQ 5 won’t get manual preconditioning, the round gauges that fit in the steering wheel, for example. My 2018 Kia Soul EV received major upgrades to infotainment, including a brand new user interface and CarPlay. My 2020 Soul EV received major interface upgrades and changes as well over time. IONIQ 5 will be my only Korean car that’s stuck on old software like this. Very bad feeling considering its price.

One thing I'll mention about EV cars they drop Value incredibly fast! My IONIQ 5 SEL out the door with platinum extended Warranty and premium extended Warranty on tires and Rims I paid 56,000 +. I went to one dealership and they offered me 21,000!!!! It has low miles and I have Title in Hand! It's paid off.... It's not just the IONIQ but others too that have dropped over 50% value in just 1 1/2 years. I expected to take a hit buying a brand new car but not over 50% in such a short span is insane. Plus all the issues with electrify America, and lack of charging stations.

Thank you very much for your review. I drive an original Ioniq 5 since 20 months and the leasing will end in September 25. There are several deal breakers for leasing an Ioniq 5 in the future: the turning circle of my 4 wheel drive Ioniq 5 is 12,6 m, which is like a truck and not acceptable in Europe. The Bose sound system including the subwoofer is ridiculous and not acceptable for me on long trips. The consumption at 130 km/h in winter is more than 30 kw for 100 km, which is unacceptably huge. I wonder if any of these three issues has been fixed in the PE version of the 4 wheel drive Ioniq.

Did you ever use Utility Mode and notice any upgrades to the PE version? IIRC some people were complaining on the original cars about the difficulty of being able to lock the car while keeping the car in Utility Mode and walking away (e.g. to keep their dog comfy). Love the videos, thanks!

Although not included in the video, the utility mode shows how much hours left to be used, a bit more info than before. However, I don't think there is the "Dog mode," like that of Tesla's just yet. I couldn't find any during my test drive, nor have I seen one from fellow reviewers.

When will we be able to use these gorgeous displays to watch KZfaq and Netflix? I currently have an ioniq electric 2020 model and I love it. I really do like the ioniq 5 which is the next upgrade from ny car. I wish Hyundai would have stayed with the gear shifter that my car has. Which is the button style gear selector on the center console. I think it's so cool and different. And one last thing I wish they would stay with the harmon kardon sound system instead of the bose sound system. So yeah when will we be able to use these gorgeous screens for actual media consumption. We should be able to do so when in park.

As someone looking at getting an Ioniq 5, your videos have been an excellent source of information so far. Do you know if you're likely to get the opportunity to do anything more in depth with the new N-Line version at all? Interested to see how that differs further from the PE version, besides the obvious body changes and steering wheel/trim. I've seen photos/renders of the N-Line in a red colour also, which looks excellent imo! Do you happen to know if this is a unique red, or the same as say the Kona N-Line red metallic? Thanks.

Thanks for the comment :) I only see Ultimate Red Metallic on the catalogue for IONIQ 5 including the N-Line, so I assume it'd be the same as Kona N-Line's. It always has been the same color despite the vehicle type when it comes to Hyundai thus far. I sure do hope to test drive IONIQ 5 N-Line, you will see it on my channel or on the community post as I've said in this video when I do!

Thank you for the great amount of detail in your videos. I am convinced to wait a bit until my Hyundai dealership starts selling this new enhanced model. There really is no big weakness with this car. The only thing I can think of is range, but let's be realistic: with minimum 400km in winter time (I would count -5C to -10C as average winter), living in the "long" Nordic countries, you can reach 95% of the population with 1 charging stop (if you start with full battery) so 800km (180-200% of battery). If I can get 400km mixed traffic year round, with 800V fast charging available (like we do in Finland/Nordics), with on-demand pre-heating, the battery problem is solved! - extremely spacious for its size - great amount of "common" tech and unique manufacturer tech - up to date connecitivity with USB-C and wireless Android/iOS - digital rear view mirror (hopefully it will be possible to get it WITHOUT also going with side mirrors). I am from Finland and I know it will be a helpful thing to have in snow storm conditions if the rear wiper is not doing its job - V2L!! Something most competitors STILL don't have... - common buttons back to being physical - rear seats are luxuriously spacios (this has to be mentioned twice hahaha) - extremely large panorama window (I don't mind having a shade, some manufacturers have digital dimming but physical blocker will help more with sun heat) - low touch lane assistance - pre-conditioning from a button will help with charging speeds in the winter So as of now, living in a country with long and cold winters, and AWD version would be the perfect EV. There are however two things I'd like to see all auto makers, not just Hyundai, try out (Korean manufacturers might have an edge on this ;) ) 1) OLED screens to help with darkening the cockpit. Many LG/Samsung OLEDs nowadays have good burn in protection. I understand if it is impossible to do it in a car vs. TV. In the winters it's dark at 16:00 here in the afternoon so it truly helps to have a very dark interior 2) possibility of ski hole in the middle arm rest. I don't think that it needs a lot of work engineering wise. It is simple to buy a skibox but even easier to just use the ski hole. :) Thanks a lot for the videos DKK!

I’ve had my Genesis GV60 for half a year now, and much to my surprise, I don’t miss having a rear wiper one bit. Maybe it’s because the rear windows have been mafia-grade tinted at the factory?
@CarSceneKorea
@CarSceneKorea 3 ай бұрын
Some countries with severe weather condition do need them badly 🥲(What I was told by my viewers)
@cousinluigi
@cousinluigi 3 ай бұрын
@@CarSceneKorea that’s oftentimes true, but also depends on the car’s shape/design, so the problem is a bit complex. :) Some car designs cause mud to stick more to the rear window than others, and in some countries, you get more of the wet mud. If you drive a hatchback with a steeper angle on the rear, or a station wagon, there are more vortexes in the immediate slipstream, that will make mud particles airborne. On a not so steep coupé angle, you don’t really get these vortexes, negating the need for a rear wiper. And on sedans. The mud particles don’t end up on top of the trunk. I remember using the rear wiper a lot on drives in Norway and Sweden, driving cars from various European manufacturers. These were mostly hatchbacks or station wagons. I currently live in Ireland, and have never really had the need for a rear wiper here, oddly enough, as the rain just washes away everything on the rear window as I go.

My Ioniq5 21 is swinging between the lines in HDA. Is it crippled due to German regulations or just bad design? . The Tesla I drove keeps straight on the middle of the road. What about the front lights? They are rather mediocre, no matrix and not active as with Tesla. Does this change with model 25?

Tesla has the ultimate ADAS in the market indeed. This IONIQ 5 PE has HDA2, which is an upgrade from HDA1, obviously. It is also equipped with LKA2 - Lane Keeping Assist 2 - which ought to do better job than previous LKA1. There's also LFA2 - Lane Following Assist 2. I'm excited they are using a hand sensor vs torque, I am not a fan of the torque systems. I will say I don't like how often Hyundai remaps the accelerator. Rather than changing the full curve they could change the response time and the amount of regen, but not the position. They could then cap the accel in Eco unless you floor it. This would achieve the same effect without the annoyance of constant accelerator remapping for every small regen change via the paddles. Here's hoping we get the laws for side mirrors and matrix headlights fixed in the US so we can get the DSM and other goodies.

l think, interior design of ioniq 5 must have be aspherical (not soft, rounding)l lines like as ioniq 5's outside. Especially on rear window and sunroof window's interior lines. Then we can mention about harmony between interior and outside designs. The outside of the car like Mustang, this increase your expectation, and then you get in inside and what you saw is like Kia Picanto.
