Look out for a telephone call (That your bank most likely will tell you they NEVER call you and ask for details)where said "authority" asks for your card details! 🤣🤣🤣

Basically the scammers are setting up customer accounts with names such as support, admin etc and uploading the Etsy logo as their profile picture. Why Etsy allow profile pictures to be included in the message and use names such as admin etc is a disgrace - they are just helping the scammers

Yes! And Etsy being such a huge company are not doing anything to protect new customers. Thank you , yes and the box is black whereas Etsy is orange - I’ve closed account now 🥹

Firstly sorry this happened. I am new to Etsy as well and I get these scam messages every time I list a new item (I've been on two months). Apparently they seem to focus on new accounts. It is important to look in your Etsy messages account. All messages will be in the From Etsy, so if its not in that area, its from someone not connected to Etsy. Shoppers also do not need your email, if you get a message requesting your email. Place all your scam messages in SPAM.

Thanks for sharing this! The scammers are tricky! One indicator I’ve learned regarding whether it’s truly Etsy is that Etsy NEVER responds in real time to mistakes on your shop, questions, problems- whatever. They are not there. To interact with Etsy you must follow the described procedure and WAIT.

Yes they tried mine too for days. Check your card is verified before answering any scammer. Its what I did. Also the scammer told me my shop was getting shut down. I checked. It isnt. Doesnt hurt to doubt messages are genuine.

No problem / and guess what they said yesterday- sent an email and said congratulations on your first sale / there was no sale! Please be careful . I’ve closed the account / it’s too stressful x

I'm so sorry this happened to you!! Thank you so much for sharing this to help others. Scammers often use emojis and say the word "dear". Did they use emojis?

@@Bbbbbbcd I wouldn't let this scare you from selling on Etsy. Don't let those scammers ruin anything. If I were you I would get into a group of Etsy sellers like on FB, and if there is ever any concerns or questions you have, you can screenshot your computer screen and ask them. You'd be surprised how helpful the other Etsy sellers are!

Yes 2 days ago I had the same thing ! Asking to verify my account and enter bank details - I’m a new seller so I think they’re targeting those that are new 😮

They do scam new shops..almost happen to me...Etsy messages will come into the Esty mailbox.

Etsy won't send messages in the regular inbox of messages. There is a separate inbox from them.

But isn't it all their website , how are they letting scammers get into it ? Why is it so hard for sellers now? It's very easy to get scammed as it's all happening while you are on their website. It shouldn't be upto us to distinguish wither to check inbox or from etsy messages . It should be secure . I got scammed today. It's so ridiculous I want to shut down the shop now.
