Projects with these robots:
- UNO Playing Robots:
• I Gave Industrial Robo...
- Breakfast Making Robots
• Un-Cut Industrial Robo...
I learned a lot from this project and it really gave me a good introduction into the industrial robotics industry.

Something like this has also happened to me. It gave me a huge push into micro machining on Swiss machines. I plan to do the same thing when I’m in a position to. Guys like this change lives.

Ah yes, the “I contacted someone to ask about buying something and ended up getting it for free” strategy. I also have experience with this. It’s a very odd feeling, but I am extremely thankful for it when it happens. I got a no longer produced pack of Fuji FP-100c this way, and then proceeded to screw up the first 3 pictures because I didn’t understand how it worked… 5 pictures are left and I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to use this awesome film and will be saving it for very special occasions.

I bought an Epson Vt6L from a fairly prominent high end vise manufacturer having no idea how to use it. The process of getting one of these things and learning from nothing is such a rewarding feeling. Getting it, sending it home for the first time, getting your first motion commands and talking to IO ports. It's especially helpful having people who are willing to lend a hand in the process. For that, I need to shout out the guys at PSC up in New York, they are an awesome crew.

A tip for anyone looking for a short. Replace the fuse with a low wattage light bulb. If shorted itll glow. if already shorted itll glow until you find the short. good work on the robot!

cool vid and good job on the troubleshooting. Always remember though this is industrial equipment and therefore dangerous. Even though it's small it can still malfunction and swing around and hit you, possibly ending up in an emergency room visit.

Aaah, this story reminds me of when I went to the local electronics shop to buy a replacement fuse for my 3MP (!) digital camera, a very small surface-mount fuse mind you! I mentioned that I was not exactly sure how to solder it, and they kindly directed me to someone who might be able to help me. Turns out the guy was a retired robotic electronics guy, but he was also constantly getting pulled in to new, small jobs since he was the only one with the right knowledge. Also he did the soldering of my camera fuser for free! :)

FYI, compared to a lot of industrial hardware, robots don't have much used market value, beyond just parts and replacement units for existing (but older) production cells. They're a bit like CNC machines in a way, since they inherently get less accurate over time. Not by much, and often not enough to actually justify selling them for scrap value. Robots are pretty much the same, and in a way do lose their reliability rating and accuracy over time. But again, not by much, and certainly not enough to justify selling working units for scrap. I work in machine building for medical device production, so high value stuff. But it kinda feels wrong to use a brand new Kuka arm, requiring all new software, calibration equipment and training, when we could've just bought the same robots we were using 4-5 years ago second hand, and probably get better results.

Are you sure you can run both at the same time? It could be a safety feature that this is not allowed. If arm1 ist static, arm2 can do it's path planning and does exactly know where the allowed area is. Otherwise they would need bidirectional online path prediction

🤔 possibly, I'd have to do more research. But I think it has to do with the fact that the controller only has one AWC card, which is like the brains of the controller.
