@Eric Ariel I hope someone legitimately takes the time to rob you or your loved ones of money, the same way you are attempted to rob them of theirs. This is a fake subscription website that gathers user data and over charges people $100-$300.

Thanks for sharing. I was wondering is this a good chance of admission into the applied stats MS at teachers college (doesnt seem very competitive program tbh)? - founded and i am president of the women in stem club - 2 years nasa data science / astrophysics research - 1 year neural networks research - princeton data science internship/summer school - 3 data science internship at start-ups - nasa internship - us dept of state internship - big health system data science internship - great recommendation letters - meh gre scores, high 150s - leadership job on campus for new freshman - double major in physics and data science - 3.2 gpa - i know it sucks but its due to my (previously) undiagnosed disability and learning disability - i spoke about this in my personal statement i feel my internships give me a better chance, i am not good at standardized tests so i know my gpa/gre is not good :/ im also a woman, bisexual, first generation student, and have a disability. who knows, maybe i will get in lol

how important is WHERE you complete your undergrad?
@tsaoh5572
@tsaoh5572 4 жыл бұрын
Gavin Lehane I did my undergrad at a place that’ll make 99% of Americans go ‘where the fuck is that?’ and I got into a Columbia graduate program. You can see it as a disadvantage, but you can also use it to your advantage as well. It makes you unique, it makes you stand out. However, do make sure you ‘compensate’ for a ‘below-par’ degree with other things - such as work experience, great essays, great recommendation letters, and/or good test scores. Also: your undergrad DOES need to be from an actual university - not some random institute of education that merely calls itself a university, but actually isn’t. I’d say you should be fine as long as your undergrad’s institution is in the qs top 400 or 500.

TSAOH! Hi. I have a few questions if you don’t mind. - I graduated from a university in the Middle East that is in affiliation with Purdue uni. - Chemical engineering - 3.58 overall GPA. - No work experience, since I just graduated and no internships (cancelled bcz of COVID) - I can try my best to get great test scores (GRE) and write the essay. - Great recommendation letters. Do you think I have a good chance at being accepted? Any advice?
@tsaoh5572
@tsaoh5572 3 жыл бұрын
Zainab H. Abbas Hi! Well first of all I am by no means an expert. I got accepted and went through the whole process, but I don’t know anybody else personally who went to the ivy league that I can compare myself with. So I can only speak from my own experience. And looking at what you listed... it depends you know. It could be enough to get accepted, sure. But what masters program do you want to do? And why? And why in the US? The acceptance rate for masters varies A LOT per masters. Law school and MBA are very hard to get accepted (acceptance rate below 10%), but other studies less so. For most masters, they don’t publish the acceptance rate though. It also varies A LOT per ethnicity per study. An Indian/Chinese student will struggle getting into computer sciences masters, but will be easily accepted into sociology or something (because not many Asian students specialize in that). The universities want a diverse group of students in their programs. So are you unique, or are there many others like you who apply there? If there are many others, do something that makes you stand out. Just make sure you have a good story ready when you’re applying there. Why are you special, even though you didn’t get your bachelor at an ivy league uni? Perhaps you gained a lot of experience at your university, or some place else. If you did not, I’d suggest taking your time after your bachelor. Get some experience, somewhere. Get a vision: what do you want to achieve or do with your masters degree later on in life? Personally, I took a year to intern after my bachelor, before I applied to Columbia University - just to get the necessary experience and connections (for recommendation letters) I needed. Most people doing masters in the US are more than 23 years old, so you got a lot of time to work some more on your resume, if needed. I hope any of this helped a bit. Good luck!
