There really is something extra powerful about saying a prayer out loud. Years ago when I was suffering from extreme anxiety, I would lie in bed at times and please for the Lord to help me sleep. I found that if I got out of bed and onto my knees and said a "real" prayer, it made a difference how I felt afterwards. It was usually after those prayers that I would find enough relief to sleep. The other day I unknowingly dropped my credit card after I left my car and headed into the the store. When I realized it wasn't in my hand (my mask was so that thre me off), I turned to retrace my steps. I searched he ground carefully as I walked back the my car and hoped it was in the seat since it was nowhere to be found on the ground. I searched the seats and my purse and became very upset. Then I finally took a breath, calmed down, and said an out loud prayer. I felt I should calmly take each step of what I did before I originally left the car. After that, I carefully scanned underneath my vehicle and then turned back toward the store to scan the parking lot again. There, right in the middle of my path, clear as possible, was my card. All the prayers I said in my mind as I had first done when realizing I had lost my card were not enough. That attention, reverence, and extra small ACT to show and exercise our FAITH just has some extra powerful way to connect to heaven and receive power and answers. Prayer is so powerful! God does hear them all! Sometimes those out loud prayers are extra powerful and I think its for OUR sake, not His sake.

I hear Him through prayers,prompting of the Holy Ghost, messages of the Prophets, reading scriptures 😊

I live just outside of St. George, which means a 30 min or so drive to and from work. I've spent many of those half hours home in vocal prayer. It's one of the only times I'm alone, and I get to think privately. Some of those prayers are the best. Thanks for sharing this message Elder Holland

I Love this so much❤ prayer is important. I started saying my prayers out loud and I feel comfort, like Angels are listening.

Every time I hear a general authority speak I like to picture Jesus speaking to us through them. And I think about Him being down here on Earth in person speaking to us directly and giving us the peace that We all need. He lived a perfect life when He was on Earth and every single day I hope and pray for Armageddon to come because I for one AM READY!

I can certainly do better with my prayers, I think its a common problem among the church and we can all work on it.

Beautiful reminder that we often get out of prayer what we put into it. Actually vocalizing the words can have a powerful impact on our communion with God.

Vocal prayer has been strongly stressed to my mind this year. It has been a great source of strength. Words have power. This principle is taught throughout the scriptures and by modern prophets.

When there are so many unanswered questions and concerns in today’s world, it’s very comforting to know we can always turn to Him above in prayer.

This inspired me to pray out loud! Thank you Elder Holland.

Right on time to correct my own habit of waiting until the end of the day for evening prayer and a good reminder to say the words out loud. Sometimes I talk to Him while I'm walking out doors, well as long as no one else is around. Now that we are masked it even easier.

Reminded me of the prayers of my father growing up, there is times that as we kneel in a family prayer and hear my dad crying to the Lord in faith for each of his kids an open my eyes thinking the our Lord was there in the room close to my father strength him.

A good reminder, thank you. Prayer is something I do often silently, but the times I say personal pray out loud is few.

Moving my evening prayer up to between 6:40 PM and 7 PM usually about 10 minutes has been helpful because like Elder Holland said, it's harder to be coherent when so tired just before sleep.

This is an amazing testimony thank you Elder Holland! I do an evening prayer when I am spent and exhausted and yeah I end up sending a half hearted prayer to my our heavenly father. Thank you for helping me to change this habit! I know that prayer truly has power and when said vocally has a true power to it! As there should be a prayer of Thanksgiving and a prayer of praise, we should also talk to our Father in Heaven and say those things which are truly on our hearts. I have found that when I say even my most selfish things he speaks peace to my heart and when I(of course he is always ready) am ready he gives me the understanding I am needing even when it is not what I want to hear but it is what I needed to hear. I love my Father in Heaven and my Savior Jesus Christ. They are always there for me but most of the time it's me that gets in my own way.
