It’s wild to me that your Baptist church asked you to leave for covering 😮 especially when I consider Baptist churches where people attend dressed informally or even immodestly. Without doing a whole bunch of research and prayer, I think some of the passage might be cultural in terms of Paul was speaking to Corinth, a church with gentile and Jewish believers, and both cultures had different ways of dealing with hair. I think if I woman had short hair, she was considered a prostitute, and a man had long hair was the same. I know Jewish men wear a head covering as well. So, without prayer and further research on that passage, it's hard to answer but I think the main thing is that when we dont let minor issues like this divide us in our faith, the same way circumcision becamf an issue for Jews with Gentile believers. If the Lord directs you to do or not do something, heed it, but it should not divide us as a church or brothers or sisters in the Lord or take away from the main point of salvation. But I appreciate the honesty of you sharing your story.

Which Mennonites did you join? I'm familiar with holdeman Mennonites, and we know several churches in our area that don't observe head coverings, wear dresses, or really most historic Mennonite teachings. I wear a head covering during worship. No one has approached me about it, but several reformed Baptist groups do observe head coverings. i know some fundamentalists groups tend to draw lines where maybe they shouldn't.

Problem I have is if a woman dishoners her head with it uncovered and a man dishoners his with it covered why don’t the covered crowd prohibit the men from wearing a hat at all times like they require the women to wear a covering at all times? Instead some of them actually require men also to wear a hat and totally ignore the verses about the men but hammer on the women. Picking and choosing to fit your religion is why there’s so many that I know who have left those sects.

I'm a christians and have seen the culty side of. Church group thinking dictating women with their hair. I say f that. I am more than willing to have a conversation on women hair covering and modesty submittance only AFTER it is demonstrated that those same believing men are willing to die for their wives and love them more than themselves like Christ calls man to do in the passages. Any woman who pushes her marriage beliefs on other wives needs to check herself. Any man who demands respect from his wife, is not worthy of respect.

1 Corinthians 11:14-16 “Judge among yourselves. Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him? But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a covering. But if anyone seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor do the churches of God. We have to remember who he is writing to and their culture at the time.
