In my opinion its not a real gimmick fight because, it’s not necessary to use for having a great time with this boss. It’s somehow different from a gimmick fight so I would say, it’s a fight with a gimmick.

The theme only should convince you that there are not bad bosses

If it was the intention to beat them with sleep, which I'm not sure I totally agree with, they should've at least put some sorta sleep option leading up to the boss arena. Sorta like the Serpent Hunter. Maybe have the sleep sword on that balcony above them or just some pots. I used to wonder why they were even there, cause they seem pretty out of place, but it turns out they probably want the rune of death from Maliketh cause him having it sealed essentially gimps their power.

They've been nerfed for over a year now. They will attack you one at a time! They're now a pretty tough fight but not insane. They are also *very beatable without sleep.* Sleep is to be employed with unoptimised builds and challenge runs, not if you have a decent build.

i think the real issue comes from 2 things. firstly, the duo bosses like this are not just 'easier' with a spirit summon but are akin to radahns summons you can call in to help where its the INTENDED way to do it on the AVERAGE level of difficulty... miyazaki meant it when he said he intended spirit summons to be a normal and HEAVILY important part of peoples builds and sure, if your good enough on solo bosses to not need the help, ya dont haveta use em like if you were a spell blade but you had an easier time using your sword cause they were too fast and kept input read dodging your spells where its intended that that tool simply not work against this boss cause thats what spirit summons are... a tool to use as you see fit. this also ended up extending to virtually all consumables and spells as well for most oldschool soulsborne players used to AT MOST lvl 125 with MAYBE 40 vigor if you felt unsure in your ability to dodge and back when scaling mattered so much more that spell blade builds were far less common and you were usually more either a mage or a knight. This also was worsened by the fact that oldschool players couldnt get out of the mindset of a non linear boss path that doesnt require you to do this or that first and that actually encourages you to explore pretty much THE ENTIRE map before you fight any of the major shit and so people bashed their head into brick wall after brick wall while walking along a ridiculously linear path of where the graces led them thinking leaving the path was just impossible or some shit and so people never knew even HALF of what they could use to make a build or that finding a bosses weakness like malenia with frost and bleed or the godskin duo and sleep was something that was actually SERIOUSLY important to do. now i know, that was A LOT for just ONE thing but it all sums up into, old players couldnt adapt and so got mad instead of learning the way that elden ring did things differently with the second point and more important point which on anyones first soulsborne run is something we all should and usually do accept is gonna happen being that miyazaki 110% meant for everyone to communitcate their findings to eachother and come together online in the community to brainstorm ways to win or say what worked for you and so this knowledge would become readily avalible but on a first run, it is the norm and for good reason to go in blind to see what you can find and report it while still staying blind about what to do so you get the rawest experience and we just need to accept on that front, that there will be shit like this we dont find out until after that fact.

Personally I had no problem with any of the lazy gank fights in elden ring since there are so many options to manage your difficulty. Multiple bosses? Alright I'll summon or use ashes to break up the gank, target the bosses weakness / stack my resistances to the bosses attack type. Ring isn't like dark souls with all you can do to setup to deal with each specific boss instead of just memorizing the attacks dodge times. Hell for every boss cept Malenia tower shield tank is equally viable to dodging. So yeah I just felt the duo was more of a 'what is your strat for handling two tough foes at once at endgame strength?' than a roadblock fight. Asking for just a little bit of planning before run in and bonk.

I think their fine I didn't have an issue with them but I'm not fresh to fromsoftware games I'm old so I can see how new players and frankly new people to the franchise would have an issue with this

"taking two standalone bosses and slapping them together" IMO they were clearly designed as a gank first, then put seperate versions throughout the world. The fireball throw is so out of place in the 1v1s. Would O&S be "lAzY dEsIgN" if you fought them individually first?

I may be weird for saying this but the Godskin duo is one of my favorite bosses in the game

I’ll never understand this, I only played Elden ring once but I defeated the godskin duo in one try, I had used a strenght build and the bleed wheel great sword they really weren’t anything special, easiest boss in the game for me

These guys are easy to beat and no i didnt use sleep pot to cheese them just git gut scrub 😂😂
