I am impressed. Sometimes just leaving on something on TV or radio in the language you're learning while you sleep works too. @Errorist I am half Moroccan and I agree , Definitely Lebanese is a romantic "language" dialect for me , it's like the Italian and Greek and France to me , and Lebanese followed with Egyptian . They are honey to my ears , next to the Northern Moroccan dialects that are not ad famous as the tepical hard Moroccan dialets from the capital and big cities around it And besides the dialects , standard Arabic stills the most beautiful one

I will also say you gotta remember to be kind to yourself. Have you ever met someone learning your native language and laughed at their mistakes? Also most ppl will appreciate you trying to communicate to them in another language! Anyways, im sure you’ll succeed in your language learning goals, good luck !!

choosing the Egyptian dialect is actually really smart, it's one of the easiest to understand for us other Arabic dialects speakers thanks to Egyptian cinema, and also because it's the closest to the MSA. The downside is that u may find other dialects hard to understand (especially maghrib dialects). Keep it up!

Maybe I'm wrong but if I remember correctly, Levantine Arabic is actually closest to MSA and not Egyptian. And if it's not Levantine, I still don't think it's Egyptian. Out of all the answers I've seen to which dialect is closest to MSA, Egyptian hasn't come up once.
@user-pv3tf4wy3t

Egyptian dialect isn't actually the closest to MSA nor is the Levantine, the closest I would say is the Najdi dialect (Riyadh) in Saudi Arabia, but for non Arabic speakers I think the easiest dialects are Egyptian and Levantine, first cuz they don't pronounce some of the difficult letters like 8 (ق) for example they use A (ا) instead and also cuz of the many resources, Songs, Drama, TV shows where compared to other Arabic countries they are the best, BTW I'm from Saudi Arabia

Actually as an arab my self i would say that modern standard arabic AKA “fusha” is used in cartoons but it’s not it . It is the language we use for the news or tv , interviews , translation in the phone you can’t use any dialect you will have to use fusha . Also fusha will help you to talk to people from all arab countries if you don’t know they’re dialect . But ofc with those features unfortunately it is considered so hard for the English speaker but nothing is impossible I guess 😄🙏🏻

Just an advice to anyone looking to learn Arabic, Moroccan should be your starter pack. Why? it is thought of to be the most difficult Arabic dialect to Arabs, but it's the easiest to westerners and Europeans because, due to the colonizations, it was heavily influenced by latin languages. Moroccan is also influenced by the Amazigh language so you are also learning Amazigh by default. With that being said, Egyptian is also the most popular due to the Egyptian media being the most successful in the region and so by learning it, you are guaranteed to have easier time communicating with any Arab.

Although Arabic is not officially a romance language, it is ABSOLUTELY a romantic language. Arabic poetry, Arabic music, and Arabic movies are very love-focused! Arabs are the most similar to Latinos in their burning passion. So I think regardless of the dialect, people will enjoy learning it. The only issue is its complexity and nuance, one word can have multiple layers of meaning. I prefer the Shami dialect (Lebanese, Palestinian, Jordanian, Syrian) over the Masri dialect (Egypt), Maghrebi dialect (North Africa: Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya), Khaleeji dialect (Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, and parts of Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Oman), etc. For me, Shami sounds nearly as fluid as Masri, but sounds less like you have a "G" stuck in your throat and it's much lighter than the harsher-sounding Khaleeji dialect. The Maghrebi dialect you mentioned is the most difficult and varied dialect to understand, but if you speak French, you'd find it much easier to learn than the others. For me, the Palestinian & Lebanese dialects sound the prettiest. I watch "Learn Arabic with Maha" bc she makes it so fun to learn Shami Arabic on KZfaq! She's Palestinian and her intonation is so musical 😍

And then you’ll only talk to Moroccans? I refused learning anything from my Moroccan friends when I realised nobody could understand what I was saying, but when I speak Egyptian Arabic, all my Arabic friends understand what I’m saying.

A little tip, there are two words for "try", which are "bagarab" and "bahawel". The first one, which you used at the beginning of the video is mostly used to express that you're trying something for the first time/ or for a short period of time. For example: I want to try out that new coffee place around the corner. In this instance, you'll use "agarab" While "bahawel" is used to express that you're trying to do smth or trying your best. i.e.: I'm trying to finish my work on time. So, the word you were looking for at the beginning is "bahawel". Hope this helped!
