Heeey guys! This was fun to film and I answered lots of frequently asked questions from my vlogs! I DON'T have it all figured out but I hope this video is helpful and doesn't bring guilt if you're not into these things. I personally enjoy the things I share which is why I do them with the girls but there are other areas I could improve on that aren't "my thing" haha! (I could also improve in lots of these areas, too ;) Don't forget that you DON'T need to do it all! Even just one or a few of these ideas are great for building skills with your toddler or baby! Hope you all have an amazing day! :) -Cara

As a para professional in an early childhood special education preschool class I can definitively say you are doing a phenomenal job preparing them for preschool. So impressed with how intentional you are with the girls and try to make learning fun. I remember that video of Quinn rhyming words and was impressed! I read to both my boys from birth, they are now 15 and 25 and both still like to read.

The way you try and make education fun is one of the MANY reasons I have enjoyed watching your videos! My husband and I plan to homeschool as well, and SO many of the things you’ve said you do and the things you showed here are what we’ve used and done too! Our daughter is 3.5 and has been reading for 4 months now and is 1st grade level with everything except for writing. Our son is 20 months and knows some letters and some of their sounds, knows all the colors, can count to 20, knows animals and their noises, and that’s all just from doing the simple things and they definitely have plenty of playtime as well! I’ve really discovered since having my babies how much I LOVE bonding with them over educational things, even if it’s an educational show or something, and just seeing them learn fuels that passion even more! (Not that I don’t bond with them over other things too!)

That’s awesome you plan to homeschool! My sister and I were homeschooled and I always loved it! A lot of people asked us if we got bored..which was a funny question to me because I didn’t find it boring at all! My mom had a basic curriculum that she followed, but she also let us choose things we wanted to learn. We also found a lot of social activities through the local homeschool group..so we always had something going on. You’re already doing a great job teaching the girls so Im sure they’ll have a great experience with it as they get older!

Fantastic video Cara! I have always been so impressed to watch your girls absolutely flourish and I am so happy you are sharing your wealth of information with all of us. I use so many of your “tools” with my 2 year old grandson and 5 month old granddaughter and can’t wait to add some more things to my preschool prep for them! Thank you so much!

This is great! Such practical advice and good resources. I am homeschooling my kids and we are using a literature based curriculum with books galore. I have noticed both of my kids using bigger words appropriately and I know it’s just from all of the books we’ve read. Love all the books!! ❤

Great video! We had a therapist also tell us when reading books to follow the words with your finger. My 7 year old is in 1st grade... and did well with it. I am prepping my almost 5 year old for kindergarten and i have a 2 year old... great advice from your mom.

Uh any kindergarten teachers out here will tell you, you are prepping them for K! So many kids enter into kindergarten without a thorough knowledge of letters, numbers, and certainly not spelling. Excellent excellent video. Thank you!

I love how much stuff you do with Quinn it is awesome. I have two kids. I was worried at first that you were only going to teach word names, but I see you teach both. Which is great!! I focused completely on lowercase and short vowel sounds. From my mom, I learned that these are the best to teach at first. Since they are used the most. I love learning what other people do, especially when I plan to homeschool my kids. One thing that i would suggest is that baby's and even infants to not need age appropriate books. I read all sorts of books to my son when he was a baby. They just need to hear you speak! I love reading boxcar children books and other books that are not "age appropriate." I read Doctor Who to my four month old son. He didn't understand one word, but he loved it! I let my kids play while I read the book outloud. Sometimes they play sometimes they listen, but most of the time they do both. Just a suggestion, but I highly suggest!
