Here's how I maintain and upkeep my garden railway. Winter has been tough on the railway and therefore I needed to repair the track in certain areas. Please note that this is simply my method and may not be suitable for all railways.
The Washing Line is a 16mm scale SM32 Garden Railway built during the first UK National Lockdown.

A little tip: You should use sharp edged gravel for ballast, as that would interlock and stay together much better than rounded pebbles.

That’s a good plan. It would certainly help to keep the formation in place

@@joshw6226 It's the reason why ballast on full size railways needs to be renewed regularly. The edges wear off over time and turn into sand and dust, When this debris accumulates at the bottom of the roadbed, it prevents proper drainage..

Another great video Josh. I think you are one of the few garden railroad youtubers who have done a maintenance of way video.

@@joshw6226 I'm starting to source batteries now. And will be following up with a controller. Still not sure which one I will ultimately use. Also on the verge of getting a small live steamer. More on that part in a couple weeks

Good to hear it. The live steamer will be good too. It’s not an area I’m well versed in but Roundhouse seem to be where many people advise to start looking, if that helps.

The new camera produces a bit of a fish-eye effect, which I personally don't like. So I prefer the old style.

I agree - I haven’t used it since. I’ll keep it for some things but I’ll stick to the iPhone I think.
