It was a choice of get up and go for a swim, or sit and sketch: my daughter Liv and i knew which we would prefer. We'd been talking about swimming all day, and watching the tide, and it was just getting high enough for a decent swim. But it was so peaceful where we were...
I could have speeded up the video but I wanted to give you the full experience. The only bits I cut out was where I say "this isn't going to work if you move your arm Liv" and where I didn't get the page under the camera properly. So i hope it's useful.
It's ALL about observation - no matter the subject - and trying somehow to capture what you see onto the page. Practice makes perfect and if you're outdoors on a beautiful day you can't do much better.
