How long does the clay dry before the flowers are pressed in? And how long does it dry again before the paint is added? Thank you to try this myself!

This is ceramic clay fired in a kiln. I press the flowers in immediately and then dry the clay fully before the first kiln firing. After that it’s glazed and fired again. If you use air dry clay, press the flowers immediately after rolling out and dry fully before painting.

@@kennedypressley7091 no, although I apply in the style of watercolor, these are ceramic stains and underglazes. Since this is kiln fired pottery, I need pigments that can withstand the very high temperatures of the kiln

The pieces I make use ceramic clay and require firing in a kiln to 2200°F/1200°C. you can try this with air dry clay and then I would suggest painting with watercolor or diluted acrylic paints and sealing with a glossy clear acrylic or epoxy resin or a brush on glaze like modpodge or DecoArt . Polymer clay (Sculpey)is another option that would be more durable than air dry clay but not as paintable. It’s hard to compare air dry clays or polymer clays to kiln fired glazed ceramics -they are all very different- but I think they can be lovely too

@@nancyh9125 This is ceramic clay that is glazed and fired in a kiln. The colors are ceramic stains and underglazes- since i use ceramic clay fired in a kiln, these pigments can withstand the high temperature of the kiln. More details are written out in the video description 😊🌿

it’s real gold- a 22kt gold overglaze that is fired in the kiln to melt and bond it to the ceramic. It’s a special process for applying gold to ceramics

@@kns007. no, the gold must be kiln fired over 1300F. It’s only fir ceramic clay. Air dry clay cannot have that process. For air dry clay you can try “liquid gold leaf” paint
