I've had the same experience, BUT... I'm white & the clerk was a Black female .. She acted like she didnt know what i was talking about & kept saying she couldnt give legal advice when I was trying to petition the court for a 17b motion...The other clerk, an Asian lady was nice, though & ultimately helped me get my court date in the end....

I'm a white man with long hair that lives off grid and a ex felon for weed in California had my old cannabis charges dismissed with prop 64 and still trying to get my firearms rights back . My son is now a police officer raised by a old hippy weed grower. The bastards at the court and judicial system probably do discriminate against people of color . But here in my rural northern california county they discriminate against anyone that goes through the court system and doesn't conform to their idea of society's norms or what they perceive to be norms.

Do you know if there is anyway to remove a misdemeanor conviction from my record in Texas? I was convicted of a class b misdemeanor for falsifying a police report and a assault with bodily injury and it was also a misdemeanor and this all happened back in 1998 when i was 19 years old and it happened because my ex husband assaulted me when i was 7 months pregnant and i had a 11 month old daughter and a 2 and a half year old son at home, i called the police and my ex was arrested but then since i was young and naive and i didn't have any family to help me or anywhere to go with my children so my dumb ass went up to the court and told the DA that i had lied about my ex assaulting me so he wouldn't be convicted of anything and he would be released from jail so i wouldn't be homeless with my 2 kids and pregnant. They told me after i spoke with the DA that they were going to press charges against me for falsifying a police report and they also put the assault charges on me even though my ex had no injuries on him. The DA just wanted to make a point and make me pay for supposedly lying to them. So the judge ordered me to 6 months home arrest with an ankle monitor which i completed. But now 25 year's later im trying to get my notary public license in Texas and im afraid i won't be able to pass the background check. Is there anything i can do if i was convicted of these 2 misdemeanors to where it won't show up on my background check? Thanks for any advice you can give me.

First offense, 25 years ago, felony, 8 months sentence. Told NO to expungement 25 years ago at sentencing. Never followed up. Fast forward 25 years later. I'm volunteering as a little league coach, been doing for 8 years. Background yearly, always approved. For some reason, the background company tells me you were approved in previous years bc we didn't check this certain state! So i say, 25 years back is a bit extreme isn't it!!!!? Plus, I've never had an issue getting jobs or have been effected by my 1 offense background over 25 years ago!!! Plus, I'm volunteering my time UNPAID, not employed... It just seems discriminatory that my background is an issue suddenly, with a little league organization that I've coached with for 8 years. My felony offense is no way related to kids whatever! Hell, I was a college kid myself then.. So, by this Consumer Reporting Agency conducting this check 25 years back and prompting the organization to DENY me of continuing mentoring my teams, has raised my awareness. Though the charged and offense can not be disclosed with the organization by federal law, the (CRA) has "red flagged" me anyway, causing the organization to deny my coaching status.. i heard that i would have to return to the arresting state to request a seal or expungement. Even though I was told and read, it is impossible for my felony... What steps should I take??

I just had this conversation with a cousin who has felonies. He had accepted that he would never be able to vote. It’s great that you took the time and action to clear your record, however i spent time online learning how to fill out and file the requests myself and due to low income and the forms I filled out regarding my finances I was able to get the charges dismissed and pay no fees at all.

Mines was about 6 or 7 years and now I just been trying to get a job to support my two kids I went to auto zone and they had to do my background check they didn't ask me if I had anything or not but I gave them concent and then called the manager he was really cool with me then called him if I got the job said no I didn't get it all mean and I ask him why he didn't give me a answer it hurt me so bad I cried sometimes I just give up almost on my life
