Hi Richard! Brilliant video; it's quite informative! As I have found your content really useful, I would like to ask your opinion about having opportunities in Switzerland (even though I'm not a software developer/computer engineer). I'm Spanish, and I currently work as an electrical engineer in both fields of project management and simulation of power systems in Madrid. I know English, Italian, and some French, but nothing about German. Briefly, I would like to ask you about what the main soft skills Swiss employers look for are and how to address an interview with them. From my eyes, the Swiss job market appears to be quite demanding and challenging to break into. Then, your personal experiences with it would be immensely helpful to me. Thank you in advance for taking the time to share your knowledge, and kudos for the excellent work you do.

Great video! Would you say it’s easy/relatively fast for a Swiss to change jobs in the Software Development industry? I’m a Java Back-End Developer from Portugal, I’ve been searching for open positions on LinkedIn, Jobs CH and similar websites but it seems hard to find open positions for someone who isn’t able to communicate in either French, German or Italian. English seems not to be enough for most jobs. Would you say it’s always like this, or there is a specific time of the year where Companies in Switzerland open more positions? Thank you in advance!

It’s not about a time in the year it’s about the company. Smaller companies usually choose locals and therefor require you to speak the one of the mentioned languages. However big companies like the big Pharma-companies in northern Switzerland also hire people that only speak English. But it’s definitely harder to get into those.
