My tip is to just stop obsessing over everything, body, personality, work ethic and just do. Just be yourself and be proud of yourself, fk everything else, get what ya need to get done. At the end of the day your looks don't matter.
@earthmamma852 жыл бұрын
I grew up listening to my mom constantly on a daily basis degrade herself, talk negative about herself, I watched her hate herself because of her weight. I have some deep rooted issues that stem from all of that. She continues to this day to devalue herself because of weight. And she puts value on looking thinner. I am 36 years old and I have to constantly pull myself out of the I need to be skinny to be beautiful, or to wear certain things, or to feel comfortable in my own body. I grew up an overweight kid, being bullied because of my weight… started dieting at 15, which led to an E.D… I would only eat a candy bar for lunch and drink slim fast mixed with water, and then push myself to exhaustion when exercising . I wanted to be skinny, because it was beautiful. I’m so glad that I’ve grown and develop into the person I am now. I still have damaging tendencies but I make it a point to not put value on a woman’s weight, or my own. I don’t want my daughter to grow up with a mother like mine. I’ve had two kids. My body will never look like it use to. That’s ok, because the way my body use to look was altered by strict diet, rigorous exercise and misguided intentions. My body is beautiful, even though I have days where I’m funky. It takes some time but I silence the negativity that creeps up. I move my body now to feel good, not to be a certain size. I just want my body to be healthy and be able to move, to play with my kids, to walk my dogs, to garden and hike, practice yoga and create art. Thank you Ashley for being a beautiful ray of love.

@@III-rp6zc well I think you missed the message in what I wrote. I am not overweight, nor am I skinny. I’d say I have a medium build. I was overweight and I busted my ass, and starved myself skinny, because the outside world told me that being skinny made you beautiful. It does not. Your weight has no factor on beauty. I approach my health and fitness with ease and flexibility now, unlike the rigorous, obsessive stress I use to make my body endure. I’ve grown up with so much pressure and negativity surrounding my body that it has taken years to be healthy, physically as well as emotionally. I now don’t correlate being skinny with being beautiful. There’s plenty of skinny people out there that are just horrible people. Being beautiful to me has so much more to do with who you are as a person. So I focus on that. Also it’s great that loosing weight was so easy for you, I’m glad that you feel better… but to tell someone who is obese “why don’t you just loose weight”, that’s very rude. It’s hard for a lot of people to learn healthy habits and to maintain healthy habitats after years of abuse to their body. It’s just not a physical barrier they have to break through but a deep rooted emotional hole they have to climb out of. There or so many factors to not being able to loose weight easily that to just tell people to do it is just insensitive.

I love when you talk about confidence! I gained weight this past year and honestly, didn’t want to wear shorts this summer. I’m not the most confident in my body. But listening and watching you for the past so many years I thought to myself “fuck anyone who doesn’t like my body.” This may sound stupid but you’re the reason I’m wearing shorts this summer. 💕

Ok this legit made my whole day. I am so grateful for this message. Its almost like you're my confidence coach for the day. You are amazing. Thank you

Oh my god thank you!! My upbringing was with a mother going through bulimia and anorexia without realizing her illnesses. I was always told the negative aspects of my looks, why bigger people are lazy etc etc. I am finding power in the ability to give myself all the positive reinforcement and self love I wasn’t given. Such liberation, I can give myself. Thank you for uploading this. Reminding me to love myself through the ebb and flow of self love and self care. ♥️

Thank you for this raw conversation! It’s something that I still struggle with myself even though I’ve lost almost 60 pounds. I always say we are our biggest critics!

There was so much valid points in your video that I watched it twice and personally took notes to remind myself to daily of affirmations and helping to limit my funks. I give myself time to feel sad and emotional whenever I need to, because I believe you should always allow yourself to feel what you are feeling. It took me a long time to learn this. But like you said Ashley, you have to give yourself a time limit, otherwise you tend to linger in that space and that's not a good place to dwell in for too long. Once my time is up, which is usually a few hours before bedtime, I shower, get dressed (yes, in the evening) and then prep myself for a new day. I do this because it prepares my mind for a fresh start the next morning.

Yesssss, It's A Daily Practice - for anything you want to be/know/feel, you have to practice it, fake it til' you make it, do it when you don't feel like it, interrupt the thoughts that don't support what you're going for, investigate the habitual feelings that you let drag you down.

You display such an honest genuine character, and its so important for people, especially women, to see you speak of this in your natural element.
