How do you take effective notes so that you can remember more?
As technology progresses, there are more notetaking options than ever before. While studies consistently show handwritten notes have better retention and comprehension than any other method, we still get frequently asked what the best whole-brain method for taking notes is.
Today, I’m going to take some of these questions from the Kwik Brain Universe on notetaking and do a modified Q&A to go into more specific detail on my favorite methods.
The more information you can remember, the more likely you can utilize those learnings in your daily life. Listen in, as I review several ways to level up your notetaking skills to help you learn faster and remember more.

At which point does Jim mention mind maps, stories, or mind palaces here? Just watch the video instead of reading silly "hijack" comments like this from Baku 99, to hear what Jim actually says. It's under 12 minutes - is that really too long to just watch and listen to?

Hey, what's the "mind palace" you speak of? Does that just mean enter a state of focus and solitude in your mind while reading/studying?

Thank you so much for sharing the invaluable information Jim. Last year I listened to one of your podcasts on how to remember items/things using corresponding body parts and imagination (ie. starting from the head, the ears, the nose, ... etc). Pair an item with a body part for memory retrieval. I taught my young niece and nephew this trick and they totally got it. What was shocking is 6 months later my nephew still remembers most of the pairings. I wish your methods are implemented in today's school programs. Your teaching is truly transformational on how we can improve and maximize learning.

Jim, I found you accidentally on You Tube but often do and actually love to take notes, so I really liked this tip! As an engineer, learner of languages, and retired bodyworker, the relatively new understanding of neural plasticity seems to me a veritable fountain of youth! Add to that the awareness that movement, new information and emotion are the very keys that lock knowledge in, and everything becomes, well, as your book pronounces, Limitless! Thank you so much for your work, and I am in awe of the many, MANY difficult years you fought learning difficulties and stimga to grow stronger and learn your own brain and body, and the sharing you have done to date that you had no way of knowing you would ever be able to do... podcasts in the 1970s? Ha! I appreciate and applaud you, Mr. Kwik- you ARE a superhero!

It's sometimes difficult to have fun with it, but I'm pushing myself always a little bit forward with the words "I'm continuously getting better and I'm continuous learning faster", so I enjoy learning and creating and being active and remember myself that I can decide to have fun with learning and taking notes

WOW... Listen to your broadcast has enlightened me because I just started back to school in my master's program and it's a bit challenging since I have been out of school for several years and having issues in my personal life at the same time I started back to school. Now I found myself struggling with note taking, reading so I started to pray for way I can learn quicker and retrieve my information more effectively and your broadcast popped out of nowhere on my FB reels that I literally stopped what I was doing just to follow you... I'm amazed by your story and wanted to purchase your book but unfortunately I can't at the moment but I wanted to say thank you for the nuggets I can get, too get me started it's been a blessing to me that God allowed me to watch this video so I can stay focus on achieving my goals in learning and overcoming my fears in learning. Your speak gave me motivation to try something new with they way I'm learning, that I'm so excited to go to the library this summer and read more about my area of studying in school so I can be more ready for the fall...Thanks again from a happier student...

I was using a different method in the previous year, and it worked for me which is ( before I went for my lecture I was preparing and nearly knew everything, and even though I did not understand everything and what happened on the next day, my focus will increase, and the note which I will take it will be so clear because I knew how to correct myself and if I did not understand something I will ask) by the way I was asking my self that why I need this and when I will use it. Thank you for your video, which is helpful and appreciate your kind effort to help us in our brain issues

Note taking is something that I enjoy doing, but hasn't been the most productive for me. This video and the capture create example has helped me to clarify and marry the ideas about note taking I've had in my head, and I couldn't be more excited to try it out. I'm going to apply this method to the current book I'm reading, as well as the slews of information that I will be receiving from podcasts and videos. I'm taking huge risk and huge step to take control of my life and destiny, and I'm glad to have this channel and these resources to learn from in this journey ahead. Cheers.
