Scott I beg to differ. Surface has a lot of baggage to be useful in a classroom imo (Windows Update, other windows shenanigans). Also it doesn't have nearly as good a battery life. I doubt it would even last the full day without needing a charger. And the nail in the coffin is that One Note is available for iPad too.

@drainerthebro2617
@drainerthebro2617 7 жыл бұрын
sujan vincent ... honestly man... mechanical engineering is awesome, it's like the mother of all engineering. I definitely enjoy studying and sure learn a lot every passing day. But let's get to the part of whether it's hard or not? It is hard, and TBH everything is hard... but it can be done. Nothing is easy... you always gotta work hard for what you want to achieve... it is hard for people who just want to say it's hard... but for someone who is studying it, it's not hard at all... it's just very time consuming since you always have to be practicing maths and physics and a lot of other subjects...but it's totally worth it. Just remember one thing and don't falter there>>> always keep upto date with studies... don't fall behind and if u do just try to get right back up... do your assignments as soon as you get them... never leave things for your future self! I hope you always stay motivated and follow your goals. P.S. I might be changing from mechanical engineering to mechatronics. I love mechanical engineering, but I want to have a wider skill set. Mechatronics is mechanical + electronics + software engineering combined. I want to have all these skills so if I were to want to design something and build it, I wouldn't have to worry that I need to go study electronics on my own to design that thing. That's all TBH 🙏🏽 good luck

I literally use the same textbook as you for that CE 214 class. I took if first year though haha. I love using tablets because it's so easy to have everything there and like unlimited paper but also my eyes dye already from staring at the screen from reading my textbooks. And I like to have notes and scratch paper and my textbook open all at once so the struggle is real.

A bit late, but better late than never: I've got a SP4 with the Surface Pen and I've never had problems with palm rejection. Just gotta tap the pen to the tablet once beforehand so it knows I want to write not multitouch, but I assume that's also the case for the iPad.

I have a MacBook Pro that is great for taking notes right now, but I find myself often writing out notes and even doing homework things on pen and paper. The problem I have with that setup is that the physical notes are not in the same place as the other ones, and I really need them all accessible from all my devices at all times. I am looking at the iPad Air 2 (now for some reason called just the iPad in the Apple Store) and the iPad Pro 9.7 inch (with the Apple Pencil). The pro is about twice the price of the air but it comes with the pencil in that price. What do you recommend I do? I can buy it but I really don't want to spend money on something this expensive if I don't even know if I'm going to get good use out of it. Lovely video btw, subscribed!

The "iPad" is definitely not equivalent to the "iPad Air 2". They are two separate devices, one aimed at the budget crowd and the air two at the flagship (albeit older) crowd. The design and screen of the new "iPad" is basically that of the Air 1, but if you're looking for notes, the Pro with the Pencil would most likely be your best option. I personally use a 9.7 Pro, but with a cheapo stylus and the notes are relatively easy to read, but i am also thinking of investing in an Apple Pencil. The palm detection on notability is great but sometimes cases writing to self-delete as it believes it to be accidental rather than intentional. Hope this helps!
@pokeastuff
@pokeastuff 7 жыл бұрын
You can also pop up a zoomed in box at the bottom of the screen by clicking the icon in the left corner. Really helps with writing in smaller spaces. If you use that, it can automatically progress across the screen as you write! 100% agree with what Natalie said, I've used the app for 3 years when it cost $0.99.. currently in 3rd year eng!

db4ip Well, for taking notes I think you could also use pen and paper? Besides, the Ipad Pro basically costs the same as the surface pro while offering less functionality due to its limits as a mobile OS

As an engineering student you certainly do no want an apple product as you are limited to the programs you may need to download. GET A SURFACE PRO INSTEAD!

Scott Pleasants macs can't run real engineering programs as well as a hps or dells etc. neither can the surface. Not simulation programs at least lol.
@cybermonkeyusa

Giovanni Fuentes I am running solid works, Altair, matlab, comsol and many others quite fine on a surface pro 4. Additionally, the MacBook Pro is fine for engineering as long as you understand that you will have to run windows via boot camp. All that said a MacBook Pro is an exceptional device and is more stable than any windows machine on the market. Choose what is best for you.
@giovannifuentes5490
@giovannifuentes5490 7 жыл бұрын
Scott Pleasants well what I meant is that macs can't run them AS efficiently. My opinion though. Since MOST engineering program run through windows, having to have windows slows it down, even if it's only a little for newer macs. A lot of people with macs that use these programs lag and doesn't execute commands, or opens them as fast. When it comes to engineering work, I would go with windows.

To the people that may not understand why you would pick a mobile os for note-taking, rather than just using a windows desktop. For a student, most of the day you're studying or writing notes, listening to a video/music, and that's it. There's no need to have a lot of windows or tabs open at once, and it just cuts down on clutter so it's not a bad thing that you can't multi-task 3 or 4 apps at once. For the iPad specifically, it's an optimized setup that is streamlined and efficient to the point where it's not restrictive but instead focused, for a student perspective.

Hi! I currently go to a high school that uses iPads instead of paper and I’m really interested in buying an iPad Pro for College next year. How do your professors feel about you using it instead of paper? Obviously it’s dependent on where you go to school, but I was just wondering. Thank you so much!
