What do you do when you eat at restaurants or other people's houses? Do you track your day-after-a-meet-crazy-day or just let that one go?
@PocketfulofPrimary

Great question Erin and I touch on this in the Q&A video I have coming next week but I don't track every single day. I typically take one untracked day a week where I eat intuitively for breakfast and lunch and then we will eat dinner out and I don't track it. Also, I don't track on holidays or during special events (like family visiting or celebrations). I will always choose memories over macros for special moments like that!

@frenchwithmadameg1116

I have been waiting for this video for a long time! I'm so excited to try this. I already downloaded the app! You made something that seems so complicated and daunting, seem easy, as always. You are a master at tutorials! This really seems doable. I love how there are no restrictions, yet you ate good hearty meals that didn't seem like they would leave too much room for cravings. I truly cannot wait to try this. I do have two questions. 1. When you did the macro calculator, did you choose higher carb lower fat or the other way around? I know that everyone is different, but how do you decide which is better for you? I'm at a roadblock on which one to choose. 2. How often do you need to recalculate your macros once you start losing weight? I also love the suggestion of your first week being to track what you normally eat so you can see where you fall and what adjustments need to be made. Thank you again for all of your hard work to keep this channel going! By the way, I watched your dad's goulash video. Looks amazing. Can't wait to try it! I can't wait to see what is in store for next week!
@PocketfulofPrimary
@PocketfulofPrimary Жыл бұрын
Aww, yay! I'm so happy to hear that you found the video helpful and tracking easy to start implementing because I think a lot of people think it's more complicated than it really is. To answer your questions, I chose higher carb and lower fat on the calculator because I love my carbs 😂 In terms of fat loss, it doesn't matter which you choose... it's all about personal preference. I personally find that higher carbs helps fuel my workouts so I can push harder. As for recalculating them, I honestly have never changed mine even after losing over 25 lbs. If you track with complete accuracy but don't notice any changes for 4-6 weeks, it would be time to recalculate them. But, I never hit a true plateau... any time I wasn't seeing results, it was because I wasn't being as accurate (if I reflected with complete honesty). When I mentioned making adjustments, it was more so about seeing how much protein you're currently eating or how many calories you're eating so you know what habits you need to change. For example, if you track when you normally eat and notice that you're very short on protein and your breakfast only has 5 grams of protein, you would know that you need to find breakfast options that are higher in protein. Hopefully that makes sense! If you do try the goulash, I hope you love it! It's one of my favorite meals because it's super filling, freezes well, and is very easy to make! 🥰 I hope you have a great week ahead! 🖤

Does the app you use track things like magnesium, b12, vit. d. The apps I have found only seem to track these basics like calcium, iron, potassium. I'm looking for more detailed tracking!

Love the idea of front-loading protein. I’m going to try this. I’ve been trying to eat same/similar amounts with each meal/snack. I need to get in more fiber and fewer carbs. I love my carbs!!!
@PocketfulofPrimary
@PocketfulofPrimary Жыл бұрын
Yes! It has helped me a ton! 🥰 Carbs are not bad at all! Fat gain ultimately comes from an excess of calories which can come from ANY of the macronutrients. I definitely think eating more fiber is helpful because it typically leaves you feeling more full (along with eating more protein). But, if you love carbs (like I do), there's no need to eat less of them so long as you meet your protein and stay within your calories (so you can "exchange" some fats for carbs... it's not an even exchange since 1 gram of fat has 9 calories and 1 gram of carbohydrates has 4 calories but you can use the calorie tracker in the app to make sure you're still in the right range).

@Pocketfulofsunshine dang you go girl. It makes sense, but the math is what gets me. How do you make sure you are getting your electroylyes and also make time for exercise, right now I am a teacher assistant for prek-2nd and a grad student. I most of the time somehow stay around the same wait just because between working with kids and I don't drive so I walk everywhere.Do you think this would work doing what I do now, but trying to add in the changes. Also I am a vegan
@PocketfulofPrimary
@PocketfulofPrimary Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Regan! I really appreciate you watching and commenting! 🥰 Those are some great questions. As for the electrolytes, I honestly go off of how I feel... I can tell when my electrolytes are imbalanced because I feel tired, get headaches, get muscle cramps, etc. When that happens, I will supplement with some Gatorade or another electrolyte supplement. This happens more often in the summer when I'm sweating more from the heat. As for the time aspect, I think it's important to remember that workouts don't need to be every day or even super long (mine are only because I'm training for powerlifting meets specifically). I typically took Monday and Friday as rest days so I was only working out 3 days after school which was more manageable (and weekends were easier for me to fit in a workout so that was never a problem). But, if you're getting lots of movement in from walking, that's fantastic! Walking is one of the best things you can do for movement!

Hi Michelle - does this app toggle to show protein, carbs, and fats in the form of a percentage? I am trying a new "diet" that recommends a specific percentage of each per day.
@PocketfulofPrimary
@PocketfulofPrimary Жыл бұрын
Hi Staci! Yes... if you scroll down to the bottom where the daily totals are and tap on it, it will open a view that has the macros broken down by percentages. However, just something to keep in mind, percentages aren't always the best to rely on because you can have a specific percentage ratio at very different calorie amounts. For example, you can have a 40% protein, 30% carbs, and 30% fat breakdown with eating 1,500 calories and you can have the same 40% protein, 30% carbs, and 30% fat breakdown with eating 3,000 calories but you would get very different results. Just something to think about!
