This was SO helpful!! I am doing Handwriting Without Tears Preschool with my boys right now and trying to find our rhythm. This video gives me a structure to follow and I am going to implement it with them! Thank you!

I am a lefty, and the way I write (whether it's technically the "right" way or not) is by holding the paper almost parallel to me. I have just always done that. Much more comfortable that way.

This was very helpful. I have a 5 year old and she is super impulsive and I've tried to help her form letters and she swats me away. I really like the hands on approach and the way the letters are taught to be formed. I've thought handwriting just comes, but I think my girl needs more instruction. Thank you!

I'm glad it was a helpful video! Yes, I thought handwriting just came as well. I learned the hard way with my oldest that I needed to teach him the correct way to write letters so he wouldn't have to think about it EVERY time he picked up a pencil. The HWT approach has been very helpful for all 4 of my children, even though they have very different learning styles. :) Blessings as you get it figured out! And oh yes. Impulsive. I definitely have one of those, too. ;)

I love love love HWT my 2nd son didn't want anything to do with writing at all in his kindergarten year and then I bit the bullet and brought The kindergarten set and it changed everything. My preschooler at the time did it with us I just didn't expect anything from his expect to learn the name of the letters. well, my 1st grader just flew through the book and was in the next one within a semester(he is also left handed) and my youngest loved building mat man over and over again. HWT made is so easy after about two weeks of doing layout lesson with my boys they just took off and didn't seem to need as much detailed instruction. I do have a question about the cursive handwriting book. Are they the classic cursive? and how well do they teach contecting the letters. I have just heard some other moms say the didn't like it for cursive. we have love it so far and possibly starting cursive next spring. thanks for sharing! God Bless

+Lauren Hill, if it did post never saw it and I didn't get a notification that you replied. I would love to know what it said, but it's ok if it too much trouble. I talked my son about continuing with handwriting without tears and he said he likes it better that any of the other copywork have him do.

thanks so much! Do you recommend buying the teachers guide for the pre-K as well or are they very similar? My daughter is 5 and I was trying to figure out what book to use and seeing the pre-k green one really made me think i should start here! Going to buy both, but wondering which guide i should buy? Also does it really matter if i buy a used one that is much older or should i buy the more expensive one

Hi Lisa! Sorry for the late reply! Personally, I would buy the Teacher's Guides for the PreK and K books just so I could learn the letter formation myself. Once you learn their method, you won't need the guides really. I bought one for each grade level, but didn't use any past K, except for the 1st cursive book. Hope that helps! :)
