What is Junk Journal January?
#JunkJournalJanuary is a free month-long junk journaling challenge to inspire you to create in your art journal. Hosted by megjournals in collaboration with ⁠⁠‪@GetMessyArt‬, it’s a great chance to kickstart your creativity in 2024 with a supportive community and show up to your journal! Perfect for beginners or if you're looking for inspiration.
Junk journaling prompts
Follow the prompt list and create along each day using #JunkJournalJanuary - or pick and choose the prompts that take your fancy. There are no rules. You can use the prompts with other types of journaling too.
30 artists collaboration
Each day throughout the month, watch a new video from 30 different creators on KZfaq. Create a journal page alongside them for the day’s prompt.

When I was 12 I decided that I didn’t like my handwriting. My mother bought me a notebook and I practiced a couple hours a day to change it over summer vacation. lol. I did it. I can’t even remember how it looked back then. I have always been a little old lady at heart. lol. Your videos help me so much. Hugs, treen 💕💕💕

I love good quotes and collect them. One source of quotes I use in my journals is to harvest them from books, magazines even old calendars and date books, old packaging.....if you keep your eyes peeled for them you can find them and clip them out. I was cutting up my old wall calendar from 2023 the other night and found lots of good quotes that were garden themed. Usually they aren't very big so they work nicely on a tag or a journaling card. Thanks Meg again for all the time and work you do to bring us this month of fun!!

I do that too. Handwriting is nice though as long as it's readable, especially if you put it with the persons photo.

Weirdly, I almost used the same quote for my journal! I studied medieval women and Julian is my favorite. ♥I ended up using one from Neil Gaiman's Sandman: Sometimes you wake up. Sometimes the fall kills you. And sometimes when you fall, you fly.

Hi Meg! Thank you for hosting Junk Journal January. Great tips for quotes and words, thank you. Good idea to search online with keywords. When i was in college I had a notebook of quotes, I wish I still had that. I got a mini printer for my phone from Temu to add quoted but haven't set it up yet. I have neuropathy in my hands and it's tough for me to write at the moment. I've been sick but I look forward to participating with my journal collages. I got some amazing ephemera for Christmas. 💕

Your page turned out so lovely. I struggle with my handwriting (I have essential tremors so some days it is really messy) and I struggle with collage, so doing this challenge for the first time here will hopefully help me break free some. I've posted 2 videos so far. I hope to put up another one today and some pics on my Instagram. ☺♥
