Finally decided to give things a try after years of omnifocus and I think the simplicity is exactly what I am after! Thanks for all your content, would definitely pick up your course if I weren't a poor student.

Hi Peter. Out of all the content out there on GTD and Things3, yours is the best I have come across. Great work. Your explanations are crisp, to the point, and very effective. Thanks.

Template projects are a "must" to improve speed while working, so we spend less time fiddling around or thinking if something is forgotten, and more time progressing to completion. Great video, Peter.

Well-explained and systematic. Now I learned that tasks are not just single actions but they can be sequential which can be put under the heading in a parent group called "Project".

Love these videos. Can you do a video on setting up a system in Things 3, to pay your monthly bills? I pay all of my bills online. Obviously there are actual deadline dates and then when to actually pay. With online payments as you know, you need to allow several days after payment to allow for processing them to meet the deadlines. I have been using my calendar app for this purpose by setting up all-day, events with repeating alerts. I feel things might be a more productive way to do this. Thank you Peter!

Darrell, I used to do this as well before I stumbled across the You Need a Budget (YNAB) Application. I am sure Things 3 can suffice, but YNAB is a super powerful budgeting application that can sync all of your financial stuff in one area. Something for you to check out as well!

I actually use Things 3 just to manage my research for my phd in biology - because it integrates well with DevonThink & macOS. I use 2Do to manage my other hobbies (I like exploring, so the location based stuff is helpful). I use RTM for bills/finance/birthday reminders. I use Nozbe for some collaborative side projects. Not found one task manager I am happy to do all things with yet - all have caveats.
@PeterAkkies
@PeterAkkies 4 жыл бұрын
That's a lot of different apps! I would find that too messy but if it works for you that's great.
@ophiophagush.3926
@ophiophagush.3926 4 жыл бұрын
Peter Akkies the key feature of all - to keep it unmessy is not over use the date function, just priority. The problem with every task app is you are fighting caveats. Todoist is great, but subtasks make it messy. Things is great but no attachments. 2Do is great but no email in on MacOS. Omnifocus is not so good on iOS. Currently rejigging my system and going for a Nozbe/Evernote system with Zapier help. Inbox for every idea is Evernote. If it’s actionable set reminder - it shows in Nozbe. If it looks like a multistep thing, create a project in Nozbe. This triggers Zapier to generate a new folder in Evernote (with the same name)....... downside of Nozbe is its reliance on the user following GTD quite religiously.

Hi Peter. Thank you for the video. Great to see how someone else uses things. I had to stop using it because my company is a Microsoft 365 shop. MS Todo is good but it is not things. I like Things Inbox and automation of Today. I am an IOS User of phone and ipad pro but until I move 100% IOS, it does not make sense. I really wish I could use Things3 with Windows and Outlook.

Fantastic Video! Just got started with Things 3 and this is a lot of help! Keep it up :) Edit: One thing I still don't understand: What does the Archive function do and where can I find archived stuff?
@PeterAkkies
@PeterAkkies 4 жыл бұрын
Off the top of my head, the only thing you can archive in Things is headings. Archiving a heading doesn't do anything other than removing it from display.

Hi Peter, Great Video. One question: if I have planned a task and at the end of the Day I did not have time to do it, do I have to change the date actively or is it automatically transferred to the next day until I click „finished“? Thanks!
@PeterAkkies
@PeterAkkies 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Karin. You don't have to do anything; the task will stay in the "Today" view until you complete it or move it out of the Today view manually.

Hi Peter, Is there a way to write down stuffs you've already done, and also indicate the date it was done? For example today is June the 5th 2020 and I wanna write down something I did on the 1st of June 2020, how can I write what I want and get the calendar to display June 1, 2020 ? Am asking because I tried selecting the date I wanted, but the app keeps showing me the information was written today. It didn't display the date I selected. How do I handle this ?

Every things 3 review should start by mentioning that there is no possibility for any sort of attachment and then take it from there.... For me this is a deal breaker for any task management app but especially for an expensive one like things 3.

I agree that choosing a task manager is a very personal choice, Tony. I wouldn't get too hung up on choosing one though. It's faster to actually try one for a few weeks and to evaluate the results you get, than to think endlessly but not try anything. I don't know much about ClickUp, but I do have a review video comparing OmniFocus and Things: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rJdohZt4r-CyYaM.html
