Ever since beating Josh Emmett in June 2023, Ilia Topuria has promised he would make his fight against Volkanovski look easy. Although it seemed crazy considering Volkanovski never lost at featherweight Topuria might have known something the rest of us didn't, apart from McGregor who pulled the similar trick 8 years ago.

I don’t think illia broke volk at all until that punch. He was fine mentally won the first round just got cut off and caught I think everyone except Holloway is flatlined by that punch

Sometimes when one fighter knocks another fighter out, it could be considered lucky..Rarely...But, when fighters make a habit out of KO'ing other fighters, it's never lucky, it's not getting "caught", it's getting beat, fair and square...

Topuria never disrespected Volk, indeed the reason he took the belt at the conference and during photo shooting was because the belt was supposed to be his as he was going to fight Volk in December. Volkanovski disrespected Topuria by taking short notice fight agains Islam Makhachev and underestimating his need of proper preparation agains Ilia Topuria.

Great video man. I love the piece of interview you selected, when Volk seems quite affected by Illia's attitude. He tried to hide it as much as he could, but I think he took it personal and made more mistakes during the fight because of that.

I made 5k off this call. I said for weeks on tiktok, twitter, IG and youtube comments this would happen. There is a certain level of martial arts in which you have lethality developed, your striking or grappling can reach this level. Khabib is a grappler of this level. Conor during his prime was a striker of this level. Poatan, Adesanya, Jamahal Hill, Dustin Poirier, Gaethje, O'malley, Topuria, all have hands of this caliber ( i wont mention the small dudes.) Visually you can see the difference as well.

Volk was absolutely Frustrating Ilia. Power is what bailed him out. I wish people called fights how it actually was. Same as thing in a he 1st and 2nd fight Volk had with Max. We can appreciate great fighters but when you don’t call it how it is, you are shocked when people lose. Ilia will lose soon because he uses his power as a bail out. Someone will be able to eat those shots and then what. Especially when they are just as skilled on the ground.

Broke is def the wrong word. Volk is still a tough guy who was showing he’s still just as skilled if not more than Topuria leading to the ko. It’s similar to Stipe vs Ngannou. While Stipe and Volk are more skilled, Ngannou and Ilia have one hitter quitter power. Volk seems to be in a better mentality if anything after the Topuria fight. He’s ready to take time to recover, re-evaluate and take Ilia more seriously.
