Hey, absolutely love Sikhs, but that's so inaccurate. And also demeaning to those who beg. Do you think it's a choice for those kids on the traffic signals to beg? And India has had a culture of Sadhus who fed on bheeksha.

What is also not mentioned, that even the shoes of strangers are polished by volunteers and that's the most selfless respect Sikh shows without any racism... Shockingly Sikhs face many racism in the west just for holding their Turbans high..This video should be circulated and seen by those !! Jaby just for Info : If you ever go to the (presumably)2nd highest lake of India and one of world's highest lakes at an attitude of 17000+ ft in North Sikkim called Gurudongmar(a lake blessed by Gurunanak ji) - on the way there is this remote village called Chungthang, where you won't get a place to eat but the Gurudwara will serve you Langar for free if you are hungry! Point is... unlike Golden temple.., where you have access and infrastructure, Sikhs would treat you as God since you are a guest even if you reach the end of the world.....this is my 🇮🇳 !! Well... I'm an Indian first and then a Bengali talking about Punjabis

Jaby every Gurudwara has a langar. Langar in Sikhism is used for the community kitchen in a Gurdwara (Sikh Temple) where a free meal is served to all the visitors, without distinction of religion, caste, gender, economic status or ethnicity. The free meal is always vegetarian. We lived near an army base when we were kids n I remember we as children would go to the Gurudwara just so that we could get the laddoo(sweet) 😊 you'll find a Gurudwara in your city too.. if I'm not mistaken LA has around 5 Gurudwaras.

Jaby, Sikhs are one of the most generous communities in India. Wherever any natural calamity strikes in India, Sikhs are the first group to organize aid for that region. Also, the act of just feeding a hungry soul without expecting anything in return, as done in gurudwaras (the place of worship of Sikhs) is noble like none. Along with that, Sikhs are one of the bravest communities in India. In the past India has been successful in protecting it's borders during wars a number of times and a lot of credit for that goes to our Sikh Regiment and our Sikh brothers in the Army.

Sikhism was based on the tenet of equality. The Title "Singh" used by all males is derived from the word for "Lion" and all girls and ladies are "Kaur" .. or princesses - thus implying that all are equal, and have equal rights. However, in true Indian fashion, it has suffered its own subdivisions over the centuries with people describing themselves as descendents of upper or lower caste ... (which basically is against Sikhism in the first place !!) ... that said , it THE most secular religion in my opinion. I, being a Hindu by birth, have felt more welcome and at peace in a Sikh Gurudwara than in any other religious place I have been to.

A k lol, Sikhs and Hindus both were persecuted in latest delhi riots by those who shouldn’t be named. You know whom. Aurangzeb killed Guru Teh Bahadur as he didn’t convert. Hindus,Sikhs,Jains all are Sanatan dharm, they are branch of same tree that’s why we coexist together easily. Some ISI sponsored sikhs want to create divide between Hindus and Sikhs but that will never happen. Keep on trying. You too look like a Pakistani or a jihadi trying to be in good books of Sikhs so that you can try to divide Hindus and Sikhs for your gain.

The meaning of the 5 Ks The 5 Ks taken together symbolise that the Sikh who wears them has dedicated themselves to a life of devotion and submission to the Guru. The 5 Ks are 5 physical symbols worn by Sikhs who have been initiated into the Khalsa. The five Ks are: Kesh (uncut hair) Kara (a steel or iron bracelet) Kanga (a wooden comb) Kaccha - also spelt, Kachh, Kachera (cotton underwear) Kirpan ( sword, dagger) Kesh - uncut hair Various reasons and symbolisms have been put forward for the Sikh practice of keeping hair uncut. Throughout history hair (kesh) has been regarded as a symbol both of holiness and strength. One's hair is part of God's creation. Keeping hair uncut indicates that one is willing to accept God's gift as God intended it. One is not to harm/destroy things which do not harm anyone. One cuts his nails as it can hurt someone. Hair are given by God and it does not harm anyone. Uncut hair symbolizes adoption of a simple life, and denial of pride in one's appearance. Not cutting one's hair is a symbol of one's wish to move beyond concerns of the body and attain spiritual maturity. •It is a highly visible symbol of membership of the group. Kara - a steel or iron bracelet A symbol of restraint and gentility. A symbol that a Sikh is linked to the Guru. It acts as a reminder that a Sikh should not do anything of which the Guru would not approve. A symbol of God having no beginning or end. A symbol of permanent bonding to the community-being a link in the chain of Khalsa Sikhs (the word for link is 'kari'). The Kara is made of steel or iron, rather than gold or silver, because it is not an ornament. Kanga - a wooden comb This symbolises a clean mind and body; since it keeps the uncut hair neat and tidy. It symbolises the importance of looking after the body which God has created. This does not conflict with the Sikh's aim to move beyond bodily concerns; since the body is one's vehicle for enlightenment one should care for it appropriately. Kachha - special underwear This is a pair of breeches that must not come below the knee. It was a particularly useful garment for Sikh warriors of the 18th and 19th centuries, being very suitable for warfare when riding a horse. It's a symbol of chastity. Kirpan - a ceremonial sword There is no fixed style of Kirpan and it can be anything from a few inches to three feet long. It is kept in a sheath and can be worn over or under clothing. The Kirpan can symbolise: Spirituality The soldier part of the Soldier-Saints Defence of good Defence of the weak The struggle against injustice A metaphor for God For a Sikh the fact that the Guru has instructed the Sikhs to wear the 5 Ks is an entirely sufficient reason, and no more need be said. The symbols have become greatly more powerful with each passing year of Sikh history. Every Sikh remembers that every Sikh warrior, saint, or martyr since 1699, and every living member of the Khalsa, is united with them in having adopted the same 5 Ks.

I m a hindu, i go to guru dwara every sunday , and i have been washing utensils for last 5 years. My mom worships Lord Shiva and Guru nanak ji I personally love Lord Krishna and i respect chaar sahibzaade a lot. I dont care if some sikh say we are different. And i m not a sikh , and hinduism is not a religion. I m in just love with guru nanak ji's teachings. I dont need a turban ☺️☺️☺️ or a kripan to learn from Guru nanak ji. I really hav pity for all those sikhs who hav projected their egos , i mean its a great religion bt its only great untill sikhs retain the humility and sense of neutrality. God bless those. I will continue to give my services and my kids will also , forever and ever

Yeah man, the core principles are similar and probably all the faiths that were born out of sanathan dharma espouse similar concepts. We have free open kitchens available in a lot of temples also, it is about humanity and the fact that both the religions respect and value humanity the most, at least in the purest form. Similarities are abound and is all that matters, other things are just political.
