My copy is # 0111 and I was very surprised how thick the jacket is! It’s like cardboard. Very durable. And that chrome / shine to the artwork is wild!

Thanks for the review. Gonna blame you for my own lack of self-restraint (updated below). After watching your review and reading a bunch of others, I surrendered and ordered the 2018 double LP. “It’s like hearing the album for the first time…” It’s not one of my favorite albums of all time (I prefer the Illusions), but it packs a lot of nostalgia for me and it’s objectively classic. I’ll see if I keep it, but at least I get to hear what all the fuss is about. Foil gatefold should be a cool touch. Here’s what exposes the probability that GNR has no idea what it’s doing with vinyl: instead of putting three tracks per side at 45rpm, which would’ve been a home run, they put 12 tracks on three sides at 33rpm and a gimmicky “hologram” I’ll never marvel at a second time (hopefully I’ll marvel at least once). Weak call. Otherwise, hope it’s as great as everyone seems to say it is. As for this limited edition of 3k, don’t care to have a numbered edition (even if I could get one in Switzerland, which I’m not sure I could). Don’t care to pay $60+ for something that should be, but isn’t, 2x 45rpm LPs. UPDATE 12 hours later: I recovered my self-restraint after re-listening to my old CD copy of AfD and cancelled my order. This album has always given me the sleazy, seedy feeling of LA's degeneracy (a little like Steely Dan, but more intensely) and, while I go back to it for AfD's deeper cuts like ROCKET QUEEN (if I never hear SWEET CHILD OF MINE again it will be too soon!), I don't really enjoy this album all the way through. The only way I think I'll ever add it to my collection is if they do in fact cut it at 45rpm and press it on four sides at audiophile standards. I might dive into the LA sleaze afterall. Thanks again for the review! It definitely provoked something in me and made me re-listen to the album in its entirety. I'm sure it sounds 20x better on these pressings than my CD.

You are 100% right that it should have been 45rpm, that would have been an incredible sounding release! The hologram is definitely gimmicky (and the same goes for D side etchings IMO).

I have a copy of AFD with two A sides. The A side songs are repeated when you flip it over on the B side! Have you ever heard of this? Cheers.

Well, it is a HUGE determining factor for a lot of people when considering whether or not they are going to buy a record, so mention prices (especially when discussing new releases) is something that a vast majority of people are interested in.

I’ve never seen anyone so concerned with prices as you. Find ONE VIDEO you’ve made where you aren’t complaining about not liking the price. I dare you. There’s nothing strange or out of the ordinary about the prices of records. Your perception of value is what is broken.

i have the simply vinyl version which also strangely uses the banned cover. i also really like the sound of it. its my got to press. never heard the 2lp remaster.

I’ve heard that pressing was pretty good. The 2018 remaster sounds great, but I couldn’t tell a huge difference over my older pressings.

The 2LP version sounds better IMO, but I don’t think it’s as huge of a difference that other people have made it out to be.

I didn’t know about this before. It’s Sold out on their website so I got it on eBay for 80, plus shipping and tax came out to 95 or so. Damn

They were selling for quite a bit more on Discogs and eBay, but then it leaked that they are planning another pressing so prices have come back down to a normal range.

Just ordered this today from the UK. The release date isn’t until December 31st. Can anyone explain why? Surely if there’s only 3000 copies they’d have all been manufactured at one plant? I’m just a bit suspicious that there are more than 3000. Any comments are welcomed

I’m from uk and they’ve put back the release until 31st December for some reason.

I think these are all shipping from the U.S., so I’m assuming there was some kind of delay for some of their shipment from the Czech Republic (where it was pressed) to their shipping distributor here in the U.S.
