Dude literally said "I want you to do 1 damage on this weakened 2 HP pokemon". That would've only happened maybe if Ogrepon knew False Swipe, or if Ogrepon was a Lv. 1 and that Starly was a Lv. 100. Nate has no one but himself to blame.

If Nate already has an Ogerpon, she can learn False Swipe. Starly has pretty much a guaranteed catch rate with a Quick Ball due to its rate being so easy. And finally, the Tapus and Ruins all have either Nature's Madness or Ruination, but maybe he doesn't have one of them yet.

My Ogerpon really does do this all the time. Yes, even shiny hunting. Example, shiny Flygon in Blueberry's Savannah, level 60, while my Ogerpon is level 100. Tried to use a Rock Ivy Cudgel to weaken it because it was not effective. I hit it once and did 1/4 of its hp. Hit it again, same thing. After throwing like 6 balls at the Flygon, i decided to weaken it again, used Rock Ivy Cudgel and it CRIT AND IT LIVED WITH LIKE 10 HP- I nearly threw my Switch Lite out of grief, I catch the Flygon, and that damn adorable Ogre turns around at me with her big yellow eyes, and smiles like she knew what she did. One particular Ava Max song fits Ogerpon perfectly in my opinion: Sweet But Psycho.

And this is why there should be a Pokemon PERFECT for catching other Pokemon with. Like it has Anger Point but also has a move that makes it take half as much damage but also get crit, and it's other moves are Hold Back and Quick Attack lolol

There needs to be a False Swipe move that can, you know, hit every type, cuz False Swipe and Hold Back can't even touch Ghosts!! Not to mention such a Pokemon should have very thick defenses, access to Heal Pulse, some status moves like Hypnosis or Glare, other abilities could be Damp or a new one that stops all recoil crash and confusion damage, and a way to change the Pokemon's type. We could call it Catchamon.

Nah, she looked up the catch rate of Starly and wasn't specifically instructed to use False Swipe. Probably because this Nate is an idiot and taught none of his team how to swipe falsely, whilst also sending out a legendary that has a canonical body count with a type and numbers disadvantage against a Pokémon that doesn't even need to be weakened to begin with to bring it closer to oblivion because he's apparently too incompetent to throw a Pokéball at a Pokémon unless it's during a raid.
