I was surprised at how slow and labour intensive this was, I was expecting it to be really fast and almost fully automated

Some see it as strict standards... some say it's just flat out inefficient... Either way, that's a lot of production to make one batch of playable table tennis balls lol.

Wait, they don't hand-paint the logo's on them? I want my money back! No seriously, I'm still not very clear on how the halves are joined and how the visible seam is removed.
@TheAllBlackMan
@TheAllBlackMan 8 жыл бұрын
+Bas van der Graaff The halves are joined by first shaping one half and compressing it down slightly so the second half fits over the first. It's then sealed with some adhesive. The seam is minimized by a molding process, though in quality control the seam can still be seen in the form of a dark band around the equator.

Attila Kovács I see where the human touch makes things better in some parts, but a few spots (1:35 or 5:28 stand out) really aren't gaining anything at all. It might be partially cultural though, IIRC they don't really do layoffs in Japan like they do in other places.
@ArjunPakrashi
@ArjunPakrashi 8 жыл бұрын
+LhetGou May not seem it doesn't gain much, but once a person is into professional table tennis, differences starts to become clear while playing.

+FluffY PenguiN automation does not equal greed. automation could be used to save millions of people from slave-like jobs. it's only if we decide to be greedy that it's a bad thing. if someone loses their job because of it we should have a society that takes this as a good thing, the can do other things now. also, it doesn't mean there's less jobs, people have to fill in the positions that deal with the automation.
