Whenever the scene comes up showing the tire being constructed of recycled rubber strips, I always think the strips of recycled rubber look like big pieces of peppered beef jerky.

What they call an "airfield rim" is a press on forklift / towmotor tire. Of course they are used on numerous material handling applications, but they are certainly not special for airfields.
@criaciodaimum12 жыл бұрын
an extruder is a machine that exerts pressure and heat to a material to give it a new shape ,its a process widely used on plastics,when the plastic gets extruded it gets more conformity on its constitution ,a new shape,it hardens a little bit for most plastics,most rebars and quality tubes are extruded

woooooow the offroad conditions in a warehouse must be so difficult...
@tireballastserviceofflorid77719 жыл бұрын
***** Not difficult usually. Just 20 to 24 hours a day 5 plus days a week. And a low tire causes a tilt. So a fork truck mast at 35' in the air with a 4000# crate will lean and tip. We got around 8 month out of a set of solid no tread and 6 months out of solid treaded. One of my jobs was changing the tires. A monumental pain in the ass. Like the guy in the video except when you press the tire off/on the dings in the wheel hub drag and bind up bad. You earn your keep on tire day that's for sure.

I think making a steel mold & pouring hot rubber into the mold would be alot easier & better straight away. Why do they need to roll it for also?
@tireballastserviceofflorid77719 жыл бұрын
Tire rubber can not be poured. The form you see it in the mill is as soft as it gets. Once it is in the mold and compressed and heated the rubber "cures" or gets hard as a bulls prick and is no longer sticky and tacky. Rolling on the "ply's" or layers prevents inclusions in the rubber. In other word keeps the air pockets out. It you had an air pocket it will eventually cause delamination and pre-mature tire failure because the air prevents vulcanization in the location of the inclusion.

It is taking too much time for making solid tires. Is it not possible to make it in assembly line like car is made?
@dabomb135711 жыл бұрын
Well, it wasn't bacteria for one thing, it was a self-replicating organic molecule, probably dna or rna.

@CobraPhobic7 жыл бұрын
If your car cas too much torque and spins the whole time than get them ! They are good for burnouts too. But the negavite is they are bumpy :)
@Denamic7 жыл бұрын
If your car spins 'the whole time', getting tires with less traction won't help anything.

Don't try these tires on a car or bicycle - solid tires place great demand on the suspension due to no air cushioning.
