I grew up watching this man cook, first with Julia Child and then on his own shows. He's like my family. And I ended up becoming a professional chef. God bless you Jacque, thank you for all that you taught me, for everything you instilled in me. What an amazing human being. My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to you and your family for the loss of your beloved Gloria.

I watched him every weekend on PBS. I would watch him and Julia Child cook together. The two of them were perfect friends that loved to cook. I still feel very sorry for the loss of Gloria. Her and Jacques were the perfect couple

Seeing them when they were young is just sad in a way,they look so alive and healthy,it just goes to show our decline as we get older may his wonderful wife be at peace and a long life of happiness and cooking for Jaques till they meet again❤

Beautiful. Never saw Gloria on camera before. It's great she took the initiative. She really had insight. But I am surprised Jacques had no money when they got married. He had worked for de Gaulle, he had worked in fancy restaurants - and then he turned down Mrs. Kennedy and the White House to work in development for Howard Johnson's - then a very big deal. And I loved it when Julia called him Jack.

So now I know how he can go on without her, even though Gloria is still the center of his world. They built this together, they have family and friends and traditions that must go on - so they can't both leave at the same time. After people settle down, learn to move on without Gloria, they will realize they will have to let Jacques go too. Or fate will intervene. The good thing is - what was built will continue to thrive, and Jacques and Gloria will be together again forever. Until then, we must enjoy every bit that Jacques is willing to share with us, his fans.

In those days chefs were paid very poorly it was also part of his national service. Plus De Gaulle was known to be a tight wad.

Read his autobiography, one of the best biographies I've read, you'll see he really wasn't a big celebrity chef with lots of money back then. It was a different era.
